wORKED OUT FINE.
I was going to change the whole cabinet then I ordered the door fronts and the self stick wood banding. You can see from the pictures how great it came out. The darkened area is where the banding tape was applied. The self sticking tape was used in between the new door fronts and the upper pull out drawers.
After the job was completed.

We decided to reface our kitchen...
We decided to reface our kitchen ourselves and made the doors ourselves out of red oak. Veneer banding was used on the existing cabinet rails and stiles. The cabinets look like solid red oak and the doors and veneer stained to match perfectly with same amount of coats. Without opening a door to the cabinets you wouldn't even know the kitchen was refaced. My only suggestion is to order the correct footage of banding. We had to order and wait again but that's our fault.

These went on extremelly easy and allowed for some repositioning before the final "sticking on" which was very helpful. It gets trimmed so effortlessly, like cutting butter.

Excellent product. Went on easy with no special tools, very easy to sand and finish. Looks just like solid oak. I would recommend this product to any woodworker.

It is easy to install, sticks very well onto existing Formica. A razor blade is all that is required to trim off excess. No one can tell what pieces are solid red oak or if it was veneered.

Edge banding
Used the 2" tape for face frames resurfacing mudroom cabinets. The veneer worked great and really sticks. The part I didn't like a little was the fact that it finished darker than veneer plywood did, so had to play with the color match some. Otherwise great material to work with. Its been done now for about a month and is sticking well so far.

Very easy to apply. This was my first use of a veneer product and the final results were great. Can not tell the veneer from the solid cherry. Would purchase again with out a doubt!

Maybe this product works better on other substrates!
This product has issues! I've followed all the directions and done a number of extras to get the tape to stick properly and it continues to lift along the edges. I've never had these kind of problems with heat applied tape or where I have used contact cement. Maybe it is the Mahogany cabinets that don't allow good adhesion but the problem got worse when I applied a water based poly to the veneer. I couldn't spray the finish on but used as dry a brush as I could for the first coat and the edges of the veneer lifted and rolled back exposing the dark mahogany underneath. I've tried applying a coat of half strength contact cement (per Fastcap's instructions) and full strength contact cement to the cabinets before applying the tape and I'm still getting the same results. It should also be noted that the veneer I appleed to the ends of the cabinets with water based contact cement are fine after 3 coats of finish. Maybe this product works better on other substrates!

For applying to the edging on the front of my existing cabinet to match the newly acquired cabinet doors and drawer fronts. I also requested the attachment bonding glue but somehow it did come thru with the present order.
