Woodworking Experience:
Great finish
Great finish that I use on my pens. I get it hot enough with the rag I have smoke coming off and apply 2 coats like that and it looks like glass.

Woodworking Experience:
Easy to use
As a beginner wood turner, knowing what polish to use can be frustrating. With all of the different choices including: chemicals or water soluble or premixed it is overwhelming

The staff at Rocker offered many choices and explained which ones to use and with what application.

Love this stuff...easy to use and it has a beautiful finish.

Woodworking Experience:
Gives a high luster with minimal time expenditure. Suggest you let the finished object "dry" at least 6 hours before assembling or removal from chuck system.

How quickly does it dry and how many coats are needed?????
A shopper on Apr 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: My experience with crystal coat is the drying time is just a couple of minutes and I have been applying three to four coats for good results. Don't forget to shake the bottle up until it is a milky color or you wont be applying any wax.
Can this be used on acrylics?
magic26601 on Mar 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have had great results using this product on Acrylics. A very hard and durable finish>
Would this be a good finish for a butcher block table? Not one I cut on, just a counter.
Ken S on Mar 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I would not use it; it is designed for pens and small wooden turnings. A non-cutting butcher block counter can be sealed/finished with any number of products. If it gets a lot of use and needs periodic refinishing, use an oil product like tung or Danish oil. If you want a hard very long lived finish reach for polyurethane, use several coats, sanding b/w coats. When cured you can add an extra waterproofing with a waxed buffed finish. - Del VZ
Can you use this on bamboo knitting needles?
Kay B on Dec 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I Don't think it will work.... It is a friction finished... Needs to be put on while spinning on lathe..... I use a dip process on my pen's and the finish was not smooth..... A polyurethane or clear finish might be better. Polyurethane is a really great smooth finish when I dip my pens with 6 coats.... I have not tried the clear finish yet but I think it will work great. Thanks, Krakkerjakkp356 trust this will help. Jesus loves you John 3:16
is this flame retardant?

I have an expired bottle (Oct 2015) of Hut Crystal Coat and the back of the bottle says to apply a coat of Hut Lite to porous woods. I don't see Hut Lite anywhere. Do they not make it anymore and do the newer bottles mention it ?
Tuko on Oct 1, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Try it on a scrap piece of may still be good or simply needs some De-natured alcohol / boiled linseed oil.
is it ok for luthiers hand made guitars?
David N on Feb 12, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Crystal Coat is a friction based polish. I use it on my lathe for pen finishing while the lathe is spinning. The heat build up helps polish the finish and give it a nice shine. Since this will be impossible on an instrument I would think there are better finishes to use.
How is this waterproof??
If it gets splashed with water there are spots.
Am I doing something wrong??
Phil on Nov 13, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I don’t think it’s waterproof. I’ve noticed the finish does wear over time. Especially if it’s the only finish applied. I find it best used to buff out a ca finish.
