Easy to use product either spray or foam brush application. Cleans up easily and gives a fine furniture finish.
Easy to mix for spraying. Coats dried quickly to be able to fine sand cradle and base with 400 grit before sraying a 2 and 3rd coat. When dried the finish was smooth with the satin sheen I was looking for. Gun cleanup was a snap with soap and water to clean outside and spray through the gun.

I'll never use anything but Deft from now on!
This is the most forgiving finish I have ever used. It applies easily, covers completely, has low odor, and leaves no brush marks. Once dry, it sands to a very smooth surface; re-coating yields a beautiful finish. And cleanup is a breeze! I tried another water-based finish, and frankly hated it. I am now a firm believer in Deft, lesson learned...

Worked great and safer to use
I have used another waterborn lacquer finish before and I like the coating. I decided to try this brand since it is at the store at a good price.
I diluted it 10 percent with water for a HVLP spray gun and it worked like a charm. Two coats were used and the wait time between coats was 2 hours with good results A few hours after the final coat I could handle the project to move it around.
It dried smooth and clear, sprayed it at approximately 60 degrees F.
Even though this type of lacquer is much safer to use than the solvent lacquer you still have to use a good paint mask because the HVLP gun still makes a lot of overspray. Use good ventilation!

I have used this product for many years before it was a water based product. I found it to be almost impossible to "goof up" with it. The water based product is a little lacking but would recommend its use especially for a beginner.

Long time amateur woodworker, always hand...
Long time amateur woodworker, always hand finished everything even though not really satisfied with many results. Broke down and bought spray gun and used this product recommended by local Rockler Store manager. Good results. I thinned it 30% Deft 70% water. One piece of advise for the novices like me, if you think it needs one more spray, DON'T!

I am refinishing a cradle I built for my first daughter 42 years ago. My second daughter used it also. Now my first daughter is expecting her first daughter so I'm giving it a refinish. Who knows how much longer it'll be in the family...Grandpa has it covered!

I like to finish it puts on my pens and Bowl and wine cups and plates.

I live in Indiana it would be nice if we could get all of the wood craft people together and see what each other knows how to help our people that are beginning to do work like this .

is semi-gloss the same as satin?
Dave Moss on Jun 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: While they are close, they are different. Usually a satin finish will absorb more light so it is more subdued while the semi-gloss has more of a subdued glossy finish. The color will be very close but the final product will be different. The finish is purely subjective as to what you feel will look best with your project

What size tip is recommended with a airless ?
Adrian H on Dec 1, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have only sprayed with a compressor, and I've used 1.0 mm tip and 1.4 mm tip. Be sure to stir until there is no base on the bottom of the can. I dilute with distilled water if necessary.
what is a good finish to be applied with a spray gun for a wood planter that will be outside in the summer and inside during the winter?
A shopper on Apr 28, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Short answer: It depends. What type of wood. What amount of moisture, sun, etc. What are you using for a sealer. No one finish excels in every environment. You may even want to think about marine finishes. Various oils have been used on teak deck fittings for centuries. As far as waterborne finishes go Deft is pretty good.

Can you use this as a sealer for chalk painted pieces?
Janice M on Jun 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I'm sure you could if you sprayed it but not sure if you were brushing it on. It might lift some of it off by brushing. Paint a small scrap piece and then top coat it with the method of your choice, the results will answer your question. If you haven't bought it yet call the company
