Cut the tightest curves without squinting with this package deal from DeWalt—a value of more than $650! With its vibration-free double parallel-link arm design, the DW788 Scroll Saw promises precisely curved cuts. In addition, it offers variable speed from 400-1,750 SPM, giving you the control you need for various materials, stock thicknesses and cut characteristics. Add to this a sturdy metal tripod stand, which further reduces vibration and lets you comfortably straddle the saw, plus a convenient saw-mounted work light, and you have the perfect package for comfort and quality.

DeWalt DW788 20'' VS Scroll Saw:

  • Double parallel-link arm design dramatically reduces vibration and noise, for extremely accurate cuts
  • Exclusive tool-free blade holders allow blade changes in seconds
  • On-off switch, electronic variable speed, flexible dust blower and blade-tensioning lever are all located on the front upper arm for added convenience
  • Arm design moves the tool's pivot points from the back of the saw to the front, shortening the arm movement for smoother, quieter operation
  • Arm lifts so blade can be easily threaded through the material for inside cuts
  • Unique arm design keeps the blade perpendicular to the work, dramatically reducing over- or under- cutting
  • Oversized, cast-iron table provides excellent material support and bevels 45° left and right

    DeWalt W7881 Work Light:

    • Mounts easily to the back of the DW788 16" scroll saw
    • Promotes better visibility, accuracy, and safety
    • Flexible neck for easy positioning
    • Three-wire grounded plug
    • 25 watt bulb included

The Dewalt 20" Scroll Saw has worked well. I have only had it a short time, but it is easy to change blades, runs quiet and doesn't vibrate. The optional light works well and the stand is stable and sturdy.

Outstanding!
The Dewalt 20" scroll saw is a dream to use. It's quiet, powerful and the controls are in exactly the right place.

The stand is sufficiently sturdy and reasonably easy to assemble, though the instructions could be a bit better.

I definitely recommend this machine for intermediate and advanced hobbiests.

Great Saw - No Regrets
Easy to set up. Only assembly required for the saw is to attach the table to the saw and insert a blade. A 2 minute job at most. The stand was easy to assemble and to attach the saw to the stand. The light was easy to attach. To attach the light did required torx screw driver.

Two really nice features of the saw are the ability to tilt the table either right or left and the "no tools" blade change.

DeWalt 20" scroll saw
This tool has been as advertised. It is solid and runs very smoothly. I have cut all types of wood thicknesses and hardnesses with no trouble. The hold down arm gets in the way when rotating material, so it was removed immediately. I don't see how a hold down arm could be incorporated on this type of saw. It probably needs to be eliminated.
Maybe installing a lift arm holding device (which can be bought from other sources) would be a great add-on.

Happy
Bought this from Rockler after price shopping which included goin to big box stores and getting pricing. No one would or could match the price. I bought the Scroll saw, stand and light for the price others wanted for just the saw. It was delivered on time and in excellent shape.

The saw blade change is easy, the table tilt is easy and the speed control and quality of cut is excellent.

Stand is stable and secure, light is a little dull but I replaced it with a screw in florescent. The bulb was a little long but I made a "shield" for it to block the excess light from getting in my eyes.

My only complaint is that the saw doesn't stay up on it's own when you raise it. You can buy an aftermarket lift but I haven't as it is really no big deal.

I would recommend this saw and would buy another. I am very happy with my purchase. I use this for 1/8", 1/4", 1/2" and 3/4" thick cuts. Mostly Oak.

Outstanding saw
Recently bought a different scroll saw and returned it in two days. This DeWalt scroll saw is by far the best out there. Very quit and smooth running. The stand makes it a perfect height to use and the work light allows you to see up close. Highly recommended.

Quality product
The DeWalt 20" Scroll Saw, stand and light has exceeded my expectations. It is a solid and steady product, I find no issues with the stand when assembled properly and have found the lack of vibration to be a big selling point for the saw. I would highly recommend this saw.

From all the reviews I've read this is a great saw and Rockler had a great deal for saw, stand, light and free shipping. Couldn't pass it up.

After a lot of searching, this scroll saw was the best value. For my first saw of this type it gave me a great combination of throat size, design, durability, and price.

This is supposed to be one of the better Scroll Saws and I could find no one locally that would match your price. They would match the price of the saw but would not offer free stand or light. I thought it is a good deal.

Pretty hard to resist the deal if you're in the market for a scroll saw, This Dewalt scroll saw receives particularly good reviews and I find it time to try it for myself.

Does the DeWalt hold an Olson small kerf, spiral blade securely (e.g. .035in, 41TPI) ? These tend to loosen on my other scroll saw.
GARY D on Sep 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have used all types of blades in my DeWalt and have had no issues.
Are there casters available for the stand?
Dana S on Jun 6, 2015
BEST ANSWER: We sell a set of casters that would fit this stand. 47034 is our part number
What is the height of the saw table when mounted on the stand? Is it useful to have a stool to sit on?
GARY D on Aug 31, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The top of the saw table is 40-3/16" above the floor. I use a 30" padded stool and have found it to be the most comfortable position in which to use the saw. I'm 6'2" so I expect the height of the stool you'd want may be different than is comfortable for me. I love the saw. This is my second scroll saw. I particularly like the ease of putting on a new/different blade. I have also added a room light above the saw so the brightness of the light that comes with the saw is not so much of a contrast - just a little easier when you look away to not have a big change for your eyes.
Is the Dewalt 788 Scroll saw made in America?
Stan J on Oct 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Not sure.

The instruction manual and the name plate on the saw both reference Dewalt in Baltimore, MD.

No other location on anything.

But, not sure if that’s where it’s made. Could just be corporate headquarters.

Sorry, not much help.
