This Dust Boot surrounds the spindle of your Piranha Fx to eliminate dust right where it's produced. It features flexible brushes that let air flow through so it won't put a strain on your vacuum. The brushes conform to your workpiece and table to prevent dust from escaping into the air. Our optional 2-1/2'' Swivel Fitting (#31660, sold separately) aids in keeping the dust hose from kinking as the router moves about. One end has a 2-1/4" O.D. that fits into the dust boot and the other end has a 2-1/2" O.D. that fits our clear dust hose (#22784, sold separately).

Received my order in a timely manner. Unfortunately the boot was offset for my CNBC. Rockler was very helpful and connected me to the manufacturer. I had the correct the following week. Very helpful technical support department. I am pleasantly surprised with operation of the dust boot. I immediately noticed the reduction in dust in my shop. Easy access to change bits.

Works as advertised.
The magnetic mount makes it easy to pop on and off when I change bits.

disapointed.
Installed as advertised, and on the Shark would probably work well but the piranha does not seam sturdy enough to handle it. The dust collector will influence the path of the cutter.

No more magnet
The boot lost its magnetic function and does not stick to the base part anymore, I am so disappointed, not worth the $90 I paid for it.

I just received the Dust Boot for my Piranha Fx with no mounting instructions. How do I install it?

Has anyone had problems with this affecting your Z axis? I think it would make it hard to observe your carving
Dennis S on Apr 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Mechanical speaking I have seen no problems with it effecting the operation of the z axis. True you can't see what is going on but not having to clean up for 10 feet around the machine is well worth it. I am looking at buying a second machine and it will also have the brush attached. Anyone not using it will have a week of cleaning up the shop at quoting time.
Why are there no installation instructions supplied with this item ? ? ? Very Poor! ! !

BEST ANSWER: It is a magnetic hold. all you have to do is get it close to the position and it snaps into place.

I bought one of these and found that when using it I was having problems with the paths when the system changed direction. The strength of the brush causes the head to deflect slightly which cause it to not cut to the proper depth. I don't use it anymore.
