Dust Bucket installation problem
Now that I have the dust bucket attached neatly under my router table, all router dust and chips are being collected very well. I did have a significant problem mounting the screws (not included with the product) in the bottom of my router table. My Rockler table is phenolic which does not accept screws well; I broke off one head off trying to screw into the phenolic which acts anything like any material I have dealt with before. I'd like Rockler to suggest a fastener type (or better yet, include the correct fasteners with the bin) that will work with their table or an alternate process for attachment. Otherwise, very happy with the product.

Woodworking Experience:
It works with 2-1/2...
It took a mdf adapter to fit it to a Bench Dog saw extension and cut 1-1/2" from the height to get it to fit in my saw base. Modified the output for 2-1/2 inch hose so I could connect it to a cyclone/shop vac system. Works like a charm. I figure it could do better with a 4 inch system, but for what I got, it works fine keeping everything clean. Which is exactly what my goal is.

Works as expected
A bit of a heada he to assemble, but once together it works well. A bit of creative installation got it installed under my Kreg benchtop table. I suggest opening the holes a bit.

only thing I did not like was the edges of the door where sharp 5 min fix was to just file the edges down

if I had anything to complain about it would be that it was a tad too easy to install backwards. But I was admittedly tired when I did it.

Has anybody mounted this to a cast iron bench dog table? Did it work?
Ziya D on Mar 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: My bench dog cast iron router table has 4 pre-drilled 1/4 inch holes one in each corner underneath , the front 2 holes are for the accessory hooks that come with the table to hold things like the router wrench. I cut a 3/4 piece of Birch plywood to size, in my case it measured 13 x 21.5. I drilled holes in the plywood for 1/4 inch diameter / 20 (thread count ) hardened steel bolts, the regular bolts I started with snapped off in the table hole and I had to drill it out and re-tap the hole, so I highly recommend hardened steel bolts and don't over torque them, the front 2 bolts have to be shorter than the 2 rear bolts so I cut them shorter with a hack saw. I used a flat washer and a lock washer to prevent the bolts from vibrating loose during operation. I then used a flat carpenter pencil to trace the outline of the router table hole from the top side onto the plywood, I then removed the plywood and used a multi-purpose saw which cuts square holes and followed the lines and made a perfect hole, (a jig saw will work too) matching the cast iron hole for the router to fit into. I re-mounted the plywood with the 4 bolts and washers and attached the dust bucket. I use a big 3 & 1/4 HP Porter Cable router and it fits in the dust bucket with room to spare, everything fits perfectly and this system catches 100 % of the dust if you use the router fence attachment hose set up, also sold here at Rockler, I am extremely happy with this product, I have purchased many products from Rockler over the last 12 years but this one is the best and beats the dust bucket I built myself hands down. Just remember you have to have a 4 inch hose dust collection system for this to work well.
What are the dimensions? The spec says 13 (height)x13(width)x10 (depth). The manual makes it look like front to back is 10". How tall can the router be?
jojo4 on Nov 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Don’t know about the dimension but the system works great
i just recently purchased the BOSCH RA 1171 router table, will this work with that, and i have a 4" international dust collector will be work?

I have Rockler high pressure laminate table top. What screws do you recommend to attach the dust bucket?
Mary R on Mar 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Drill small pilot holes for 4 #6x3/4 inch wood screws! Use washers if needed to prevent going through the holes of the bucket!
The description states that a shop vacuum cannot be used with the dust bucket. Why?
Roger B on May 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The dust bucket has a 4 inch dust port and requires more air flow than a shop vac can provide in order to clear shavings from both above and below the router bit. I use it with a 4 inch hose line on my dust collector and it captures the majoriry of the shavings nicely.
I have ordered a JessEm Mast-R-Top phenolic top and a Mast-R-Lift II. Will this work these items?
Robert H on May 20, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have a Woodpecker phenolic top and a Woodpecker lift. The Dust Bucket fits over the router and lift, but you will probably have to modify how you attach it to your table as I also will have to do.
Will this fit onto Kreg Benchtop Router Table?
PETER R on Sep 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I dont see why not the screws that come with it are self tapping the best way to install is putting a blanket or tarp down n turn ur table upside down to install screws
Any issues with overheating? Also, can the dust being sucked into the motor due to the confined space cause damage?
Chris on Dec 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: while I am no expert on the effect sawdust can have on an electric motor , I have not experienced overheating plus the air from the fan in most routers exit through bottom of the router or in this case the area closest to where the dust drops in . so if your dust collector is on I think very little dust goes into the router in first place
Can you mount the big Triton 3 1/2 horse router in this dust collector box?

The larger Craftsman shop vacuums use a 4" vacuum hose. Will they work with the dust bucket?
Bradford T on Jul 5, 2019
BEST ANSWER: With the proper adapter, that can be bought at Rockler, yes it will work
How do you run the router power feed through the box?
Dick S on Jan 14, 2019
BEST ANSWER: There is a nice fitting in the back that securely allows your cord to exit. The plastic fitting has two parts which go together and come apart easily. No issues with this unit once you install it.

I route a lot and it gets the majority of chips with little cleanup. Compared to without the unit, there is a vast improvement.
has anyone installed this with a Ready2Lift or Readt2Rout complete system? i'm wondring if that lift is too deep?

Will this work on a Kreg Router table and porter cable 7518 router?

BEST ANSWER: It should if your table is wood or composit and you can screw it to the table. I have the tickler table and a Milwaukee router. All fits in the box.
What is the measurement between the top of the dust bucket door and the top of the dust bucket? The pictures suggest that it is less than 4 inches. Thanks.

Would this dust collector work to just catch dust from below (no suction, only periodically empty manually), while using a shop vac only on the Rockler fence dust port? I don’t have a dust collections system, just a 2.5” shop vac.
Ryan W on Jan 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Ryan, Iwould at least reduce 4"to 21/2 and put a y on your shop vac . The listing on rockler says it won't work with shop vac. Either way air flow around the router keeps it cool and get rid of dust that falls in your router.
I have a dust colleter .
Will the bucket interfere with the blade-tilt adjustment wheel on a right tilt Unisaw with a Bench Dog leaf attached on the left side of the table?
glagen on Jan 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This dust bucket works fantastic for a ROUTER TABLE. It is not for a table saw. No, it would not work with a table saw but is a great investment for use with a router table.
Would it be possible to replace the dust port with 5" dust port and what it the height of the space between the front door and top of the frame? Thank you
Lennysgrossman L on May 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I'm not home at this time, but my recollection on the distance on the door and frame top is probably 2-3 inches.
check online with Rockler and other companies that might have a 5" to 4" adapter.
