I was concerned when I saw the notice "Works with dust collectors up to 1.5 HP". My HF dust collector is 2 HP, but I've been using them together for several weeks with no problem. I clip the remote switch onto my shirt pocket and love the convenience of not having to walk across my shop to activate the dust collector.

How to sync remote with powermatic dust collector
    Chris W on Mar 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I assume you already have a working remote and you are adding a second remote to your system.

On the back of the remote are two screws. Remove these and open the remote, I was going to add pictures but am unable to do so.

Inside the remote is a dip switch with 8 small switches. Set these to match your existing remote and it should work.
will this work with a 6.5 hp shopvac ?
    Louis R on Jan 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It should work on any shop vac or portable dust collector that you can plug into a 110v outlet. I am VERY pleased with the one I installed in my shop.
Do you have one for 2 hp collectors?
    A shopper on Apr 28, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Sorry no, we do not have a version of this for 2HP collectors.
I came back from vacation and my remote control will not activate the collector. Any suggestions?
    Steven K on Apr 17, 2019
BEST ANSWER: First try new batteries in the remote. Second make sure power circuit is hot. Third unplug controller, let it sit for a minute or so and plug back in.
Will this remote work with a HF dust collector that is 110v , 20 amp, and a 2hp motor?
    Danny D on Dec 1, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I use mine with a jet 1100 with a 1.5 hp motor and it works great. I went and checked the tag on the unit, though, and it says it works with up to a 1.5 hp motor (same as in the picture), so that might be an issue.
Does this mount to the wall?
    Bryan L on Aug 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes this has a mounting bracket on the top for a screw, so you can screw it to the wall. After buying this unit I did buy another remote it saves so many footsteps in the shop.
Remote Turns on anywhere in the shop and through the walls, but must be within 2-3 feet to turn off. What is wrong?
    G G on Mar 28, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I don't have this issue with my remote. It will turn on and off. My longest distance is probably 15' but I've never had an issue with having to be closer to the base to turn it off than I was when I turned it on. I can't come up with even any reasonable thoughts on why yours acts that why. I hope you get a better response from someone else. It will be interesting to see. Good luck!
If dust collector motor is not over 15 Amps is the remote ok to use? I know they say 1.5 HP but the unit is able to handle up to 15 amps.
    A shopper on May 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I use mine to control my 5 Hp cyclone with a Square D contactor (8910DAP32). The remote switch output is connected to the 120V control terminals on the contactor and the 230V power and motor leads to the contactor terminals. Been working for 10 years! The remote switch is starting to age/act intermittent - probably needs a new battery, but I also notice the little green spot on the cover is cracking so I may just get a new remote. Overall, I'm very happy with this item.
My switch and or remote became inoperable. How do I know which part is defective?
    Fred B on Apr 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I would bet it is the remote. The remote has a battery so check to see if the red light still lights up. Other than that I don't know how you would be able to tell. Good Luck!
I lost the remote control fob. Can I get another one?
    Dave F on Oct 21, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Replacement remote fobs are available by contacting Rockler Customer Service at 800-279-4441. The part number is 44546.
I need a replacement remote, can I buy one?
    Glenn E on Feb 19, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Works great but it is expensive. You can do the same thing with a Christmas light remote if your shop is not huge. I have 2 of them in my shop, one on a 11/2 collector and one on a shop vac. They all work great
Is anybody using this on a Harbor Freight dust collector?
    Tim S on Jan 2, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I use it almost every day and have for 2 years. Turns my dust collector on and off. Used tue 240 v for 10 years or more until the dust collector gave up. Buy it you will be happy with it.
I already have one of these connected to my planer and Delta vac. It has worked fine for years. No problems, but I want to add another remote switch to another shop vac but am afraid if I turn 1 on then both units will turn on. I don't need that. Will that happen? somebody, please reply.
    Joe on Nov 20, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I bought an extra remote "phob" for my switch. It didn't work. I found that inside each phob were a series of dip switches that had to match. I reset the dip switches in my new phob to match the old one and it worked fine. I would imagine that if you bought a new remote switch, the switches in the new phob would probably be set differently from your older switch. If so, they would not compete.
Just received this device. Plugged in my shop vac (1hp) into the device, checked remote battery was installed and plugged device into 115v power. It does nothing. Do I have to check that all dip switches are set the same and if not what should they be set at? Can I set my own combination if not. Thx
    Frank J on Mar 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Make sure all switches are in the on position , should be a red light on your new switch, switch on your vac and push you remote button. Don't recall if the remote had a plastic strip so as the battery would keep it's change . Mine works great!!!

My dust collector will not stay running unless I hold the remote button in. It was working fine a few days ago but just started acting this way today. Any suggestions as to what is going on? The dust collector works fine if I plug it directly into the wall outlet.
    Sndchanz on Jan 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I had the same problem but it was just on start up for me. I found that if your voltage drops to around 90 Voltes the switch relay drops out. You mite have to bring a dedicated line to your vac.
How to sync replacement remote switch?
    Robert C on Feb 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: do you have to open up the remote and set all the switches the same as your old remote. Just like you did with the old garage door opener’s.
Is there any minute chance this would work for a 16 amp application?
    Woody C on May 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It works great on mine. I haven't had a single issue with this. LOVE it.
what type of outlet is on the device? I do not have a "standard" plug but a 240v plug.
    Frank S on May 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This is designed for a 110 v outlet to be used with a 110v appliance. This will not work with a 240v plug. Check out Rockler part number 42897. I think that might be your preferred choice.
my remote control transmitter switch has stopped working. You can hear a click when you use the remote but it won't fire the system . It is a special battery, before I shop for it would low battery cause this?
    patricia h on Apr 19, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hard to tell. More than likely I would say yes.
    Can you get another remote?
    Thomas L on Apr 24, 2017
