This highly adjustable steel boom arm holds a semi-cylindrical dust scoop that closely cups your small turning projects, capturing nearly all dust!

Pen turners and spindle turners will instantly recognize the efficiency and utility of our Dust Right® Lathe Dust Collection System. The centerpiece of the system is our proprietary C-shaped ''dust scoop,'' which wraps around spindle turnings to catch dust right at the source. Add to that a highly adjustable solid steel boom arm support system and a flex-form hose to connect to your dust collection system, and you have an all-in-one package that will dramatically reduce the amount of dust in the air and on the floors of your shop. The boom arm assembly can be easily slid along the bed of your lathe to collect dust wherever you are cutting, and is height adjustable within a 15'' range. It can also be adjusted in and out along the slot in the plate, and pivoted at three points to provide an incredible variety of positioning options.

  • 9'' long dust scoop surrounds your spindle turnings for efficient, effective dust collection
  • Support system is constructed from heavy-duty steel for rigidity and durability
  • Included flex form hose fits the dust scoop without a hose clamp, and moves easily as the scoop is repositioned; opposite end fits standard 2-1/2'' O.D. fittings
  • System is compatible with most lathes

Lathe dust collecting system
The dust collection system fitted onto my lathe very easily and is a snap to adjust to the size of the turning blank. I had to add a 20 foot hose to complete the connection to my shop vacuum. So far it is working perfectly, collection chips when cutting and dust when I am sanding. Very glad I got it.

Outstanding Dust Catcher
I was somewhat skeptical, but has been great for my small lathe items like handles, bottle stoppers, etc... It doesn't get all the chips, but more the 50% - and completely catches all dust from sanding. My lathe area is cleaner than ever.

I highly recommend this product.

Can you remove the flexible hose and attach a Rockler Dust Right 2.5" Tool Port (28872) to the dust scoop? Then attach the Dust Right Handle to the 2.5" Tool Port, eliminating the flexible hose.

Rockler Dust Right® Handle
Rockler Dust Right® Handle
Dust Right® 2.5'' Tool Port
Dust Right® 2.5'' Tool Port
BEST ANSWER: I don't see why not but i wouldn't do it. You would need to keep in mind is that the lathe dust collection unit outlet and the smaller side of tool port are both hard plastic and exactly the same size. You would have to have a rubber sleeve to connect them. Then you would have the entire weight of the 4 inch on the pivot point of the dust collector thus making adjustment and repositioning of the unit on your lathe both cumbersome and more difficult. I hope this answer helps you!
Will this dust collector work (fit) on a full size floor lathe, such as the JET 1442?
Marc S on Nov 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes it will work on a full sized lathe
Has anyone attached this to a Shopsmith?
Jay C on Dec 31, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Attaching to t Shopsmith will be a challenge. you will need to find some way to attach to the tailstock or the way tubes. The Dust Right collection is really designed for a regular lathe. I think with a bit of ingenuity you could get it to work. I attached a Shopvac floor collector to my tailstock and it worked pretty well, but did get in the way at times.
Can the unit be attached to a shop vac?
Primo on Jan 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: You really need a shop vac that has enough HP and a 2 1/2 inch hose. That understood, the answer is "YES". Forget the "flex form hose" that's provided and stick the rigid end of your 2 1/2 inch dust collector hose (that is usually meant for your dust collector attachments or fittings) directly to the port of the dust scoop. It's that simple. It gives a nice tight fit and you don't need any adapters.
Is there a mechanism to turn the scoop vertical for items such as plates, and what about an option to add more formed "scoops" for larger items?
Rod B on Jan 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No it is basically designed for pens, bottle stoppers, and small spindles. It works great as designed for this purpose. Maybe with inputs like yours they may make other options. I turn a lot of pens and use ca glue for finish. Keeps the shavings, dust and fumes down.
How can I attach my 4 inch dust right handle connection to the lathe dust collection system? What type of connectors will I need to make this work?
Gary M on Dec 21, 2017
Im a newbie to the lathe world. what else do i need to buy with this? what kind of vacum please fill me in or give me links to the items that go with this thank you.
cristina on Jan 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Cristina,
Any vacuum cleaner that has a 2-1/2" hose attachment will work. I have found that while it doesn't eliminate all the chips from turning, it goes a long way to keeping the lathe area clean. I can also attest that it does a great job when you are sanding as the directed vacuum will pull the particulate material as long as your vacuum filter is clean and not plugged with debris. My shop Vac is a Ridgid 12 gallon unit I purchased through Home Depot.
Could this work for a table saw?
Sam A on Sep 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: interesting question..perhaps if it were under the saw where much dust collect it might work but I would not want this near a blade moving at 1000's of RPM. The star knobs do not hold it tightly enough for me to even begin to feel safe and you would have to jury rig a holder for it on a table saw. I have it hooked to a 4in line with a horse and a half vac and it still does not remove 20% of the dust. I feel it would be too dangerous a project.
Will this work on a Powermatic 3520B?
grandman on Mar 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Not sure, but the way it is designed, it looks like it would fit, pretty much, any lathe. However, the dust collection isn't the best in the world. It is pretty good for the sanding aspect, but not so much for the turning part of things. If I had tried it BEFORE I bought it, I don't think I would have purchased it to be honest.
Will this work on a Laguna 18|36 Revo lathe?
Frank S on Apr 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It should work for small spindle turned projects such as pens. The biggest variable it the power of the dust collection system. I wasn't pleased with how it worked with mine. (Delta 1 hp). Try to have a short hose run from the lathe to the bus machine. Hope this helps.
Will this fit a Nova DVR XP?
Russell S on Jan 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it will. I use it on both my 1949 Sears Craftsman lathe and my Jet 1642 lathe without any problem. I looked up your lathe to see how it is build and this should work fine.
Can this system be used with the Ring Master Lathe?
Glenn H on Feb 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I've seen but never used the ring master however my best guess would be NO. At least not easily if you tried. There are always methods of "Jury Rigging" a tool to make it work but even so I am not particularly please with my dust collector even with the 4in 1.5 HP vacuum it is connected to. Personally I think you would not be satisfied with your purchase.
anything that does better at collecting chips?
David C on Feb 19, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I had trouble with the upright bar loosening up and twisting around. I probably should have tried some thread lock compound on the threads but I was impatient and went back to my old way with the 4" hose tied up close to the action with a piece of wire,

I'm quite new with lathes, would this work on a twister speed lathe LT-1BR or LT-2AR?
Nathan on Jul 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have no knowledge of your cited lathes.
what size vacuum is needed?
Larry on Dec 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It depends on the amount of dust being produced. If you are only turn smaller items a shop vac should be sufficient.
I have a mini metal lathe , can this dust system be setup and used on my lathe, because the arm attaches under the lathe I'm thinking closest to underneath the chuck ?

BEST ANSWER: I have no idea about how it would on a metal lathe. On my wood lath it works great
How can I connect my Festool CT26 to this dust collector?
Robert W on Nov 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I don't know, I have noo Festool products.
I purchased the dust collector system a while ago and recently decided to install it. However, I found it doesn't work with my RIKON 70-100 lathe. The mounting plate doesn't slide forward enough. Has anyone, with the same lathe, run into the same problem? I'd appreciate any help anyone can give me.
Russ H on Nov 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I added a flat bar, about 16" long, to the bed and mounted it on that, it works well.
Would this product be good for miter saw and small mini table saw etc?
