I plan to use this sprayer for ceramic glazes. The plastic container is best for glazes since they tend to "eat" the stainless steel cans that are included with most spray systems. In order for glazes to spray correctly, a 1.0 mm needle (that doesn't come with the sprayer) is needed.

I really wanted the rockler hvlp but it is severely back ordered. I called a store and they had the rockler version in stock but would not mail it. I wish that the stores could mail it, the rockler version included and extra tip over the earlex.

Can I paint autos with this ??
Mikee on Jul 29, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes you can paint an automobile successfully with the Precision. Just make sure you have the right needle/nozzle combination for the material you want to apply. For enamel paint we suggest the 1.5mm and for lacquer we suggest the 1.0mm. All the same rules apply with wood finishing.
How well does this handle Latex paint?
CPRjr on Aug 29, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The Precision does great with most unthinned latex paints. With the 2mm needle/nozzle @ 3.5 psi it will do a great job on the fence, walls or deck. For your trim, thin the paint 5% with water for a nicer looking finish.
Can it be used for staining my outside deck?
Gregory H on Oct 11, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Absolutely you can use the Precision to spray stain on your deck.
Will the 2.0 spray tip handle clear coat material?
Andrew S on Oct 13, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I use it for spar urethane often.
Can this be used with the Eagle 2000 series 1 gal compressor that I bough from Rockler? Thank You Terri
Terri G on Oct 21, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I do not own that compressor and sorry to say I have not opened the package as of yet I bought it for a future project sorry I couldn't help
Is this the same as the rockler version? If not what are the key differences?

Earlex HVLP Precision Spray Station
Earlex HVLP Precision Spray Station
Rockler HVLP Finishing Sprayer
Rockler HVLP Finishing Sprayer
BEST ANSWER: I have the Rockler labeled version but I suspect that the two are the same product with a few minor differences. First, the Earlex comes with a 2.0mm needle while the Rockler includes both a 1.5 and 2.5mm needle. Secondly, the Earlex comes in a nice blue color. The Rockler is black. Both have a 13' flexible hose, same spray pattern wide and cup capacity. They even weight the same. Bottom line, if I was to buy this again... I'd get the Earlex since the price is too good to pass up. If I needed a different needle, I'd spend the $40 and pick one up.
With the 1.5 needle is this sprayer good for stains/finishes?
Tom B on Sep 28, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes, by adding the 1.5mm needle set you increase the sprayers ability to provide a "fine" finish on your trim, cabinetry and furniture. Good luck with your projects.
What is the value of this over a gravity gun with air compressor?
Joshua B on Oct 21, 2019
BEST ANSWER: HVLP - High Volume Low Pressure means less overspray and more control. Compressors, unless they have a 60 gallon tank and all of the moisture barriers, create more problems applying a finish. HVLP eliminates those exact problems (moisture and overspray). The Earlex Precision is a self contained system.
What are the main differences between this and the Earlex spray stations that are in the $400 range?
Kevin S on Oct 19, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The Precision operates at 3.5 psi, the HV5500 operates at 2.3 psi, the HV6003 operates at 5.5 psi. More psi allows you to spray thicker fluids, faster. The Precision and the 5500 are bleeder guns, meaning that air is flowing as soon as you turn on the turbine. The 6003 is a non-bleeder style gun, air doesn't flow until you pull the trigger. The Precision and the 5500 have 11' air hoses (give or take), the 6003 has 25' of Hyperflex air hose. If you're in production, look at the 6003 to keep up. Good luck with your projects.
What is the purpose of the 13’ air hose? I see other brands without a hose.
Kevin S on Oct 19, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The hose gives you freedom. The hose gives you flexibility. The hose separates the heavy turbine from the gun. If you're only spraying small projects the weight of the sprayer may not make much difference. If you're finishing a kitchen or more...the weight can get to you. Good luck with your projects.
How does it work with stains,& varnishes?
retired on Oct 11, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It works great, it has a 2mm nozzle which is fine for staining and painting, it may be a little too big for a varnish finish, but try it anyway. If you find it's too spitty, you should add the 1.5mm fine finish nozzle.
Can I order the 1.5 needle that will fit the product?
Steve M on Oct 11, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes. The 1.5 mm needle/nozzle is part #2353925. Call your local store or the factory listed in the owner's manual.
Can i use this sprayer to stain my outdoor fence and do i have to use any kind of thinner?
Anil P on Oct 6, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The Precision Spray Station is perfect for staining your fence. Use the 2mm nozzle set, spray from 6-8" away from the fence. No thinner needed unless a solid color stain, if it needs thinning, start at 5% and don't go over 20%. Semi-transparent stain should spray without any issue at all. Good luck with your project.
Can you use polyurethane and will you get a smooth finish???
Mark M on Sep 23, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes you can and you will get a nice smooth furniture finish. Make sure you get the 1.5mm (#2353926) needle set to achieve a fine finish with poly. Spray from 6" away from the project and if the gun spits, cut down on fluid flow for better atomization. Slow down and apply a wet coat with each pass, not 5 passes to get it wet and lay the project down and spay down onto it so that gravity helps you get it level.
This is sad. Should have waited on my purchase 6 months ago and saved 40 bucks. Can I get a gift card/online credit?
