Elbow catch review
I bought some elbow latches from another company at the same time I got these. The Rockler elbow latches are superior quality compared to the others. The catch has lots of play on the other ones but the Rockler latch is tight and solid. They are hard to instal but work nice once they are in place. I recommend the Rockler elbow latches.

Worked like it was supposed to. I would have given it 5 stars, but I really wanted zink color.

The elbow catch is a great value for a petite use, the holding capability is only suitable for small scale projects. I purchased some for cabinet doors and I should have ordered larger ones.

Overall, it is a good product. I found the need to file off a small bur on the elbow left over from production as it would catch on the latch and wouldn't allow the door to close. After filing, it worked as intended.

Picture an older motorhome with a bathroom in the back and a vanity/cabinet over the sink. The mirror hangs at a forward angle so lights won't be reflect back up to the driver and distract him/her. Then picture the catch breaking during a trans-canada trip. I looked long and hard for something to replace the catch and this was the only thing I found. It's good, but looks cheap and is not perfect. I wish I had found the heavier duty version first.

is there a spring in the base?
BEST ANSWER: Yes there is a spring in the base but keep in mind this is a light weight elbow catch. It has performed well for the past two and a half years but it is in a low use application.
