Customizing
We bought two new chairs with full electronic controls but unfortunately they aren't available with swivel bases. Using Tee nuts from below a 3/4" 31" diameter ply base I mounted this bad boy using 4@ 5/16" Dia 3/4" L bolts (after slight reaming of the existing square mounting holes). Now I'll mount customized steel (angle) across the top of the swivel base to receive the untouched stock frame of the chair, set the limit blocks to prevent the cord from wrapping up, lock down the wire and then settle in. This will all add about 1.5" max height to the chair but I expect this to be even better for getting in and out of the seat anyway.

Worked out exactly right for my Father's swivel rocking chair. A much better choice than big box wimpy swivels. Thank you for saving the day!

Replaced the swivel on my wife's favorite chair, and this feels so smooth. If you think you need the heavy duty, buy the extra heavy duty one instead. The difference in weight capacity makes the diff. Smooth operation and no wiggle. Great product.

Rock Out with Rockler.
I was impressed by the quality and construction. I replaced the original swivel on my Lazy Boy rocker/recliner. The Rockler is much better more heavy duty. Highly recommended!

Need to repair a swivel, gliding Adirondack chair. The center weight capacity is greater than my needs but the next version down was under capacity for this application. If possible, can you find or make a version with elongated, predrilled holes for more flexibility with various size dimension applications. The lighter version of this product had this design feature.

Where do you center the plywood so the recliner won't tip over?
Donna B on Aug 31, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The center of gravity (CG) of your body is approximately behind the bellybutton in the middle of your body. Set the recliner half way back and have someone eyeball the location. That should be a good place to center the plywood (and swivel) under. It won't be real critical because the one used works for all body shapes.

I have a Lazy Boy chair, model Rowan that reclines and rocks. I want to add a swivel base to it. Will this part work? The part # is 088123 (007) from Lazy Boy. Thank You
Mary E on Oct 14, 2015
BEST ANSWER: some mechanisms have their own leg base. If so, you will need to fabricate a base that combined with the swivel equals the height of the current rocker. If the chair has a base combined with a rocker mechanism you can replace it with a 12x12 spacer board that combined with swivel equals the current rocker height.

Can this be used effectively on recliners?
V Z on Sep 9, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I bought two of these to replace "ancient" swivels on two upholstered swivel chairs in our living room. They work great and are so solid and easy to turn. I would imagine that they would work on swivel recliners if the springs are independent of the swivel mechanism. I suggest that you look at the existing mechanism to see what it looks like. These swivels strictly "swivel" and do not "rock/reline".
Will this work on our older recliner/rocker style 10-304, ack no. 007050564 ?
Pat W on Jan 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I can't find your rocker/recliner searching google but I did use it on Lane rocker/recliner by first mounting a 3/4" pc of plywood to the chair frame , cut in 2' x 2' (sold in this precut size by Lowe's) along with a furniture grade circular approximately 2' furniture grade precut w/rounded edge pine, (again sold at Lowe's) and sandwiched the swivel in between. Works great. It does lift the height of the chair approximately 2 1/2".
My leather chair is not a swiveling chair and it's too low to the ground. Can we get a heavy duty swivel base to connect to the 4 legs?
LILY M on Nov 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: You will need two pieces of plywood about the size of the chair base. One piece attaches to the chair base. Then attach the swivel to that piece. The final plywood then attaches to the bottom of the swivel.
Can I use this on a motorized recliner?
John C on Apr 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I can't answer without seeing the underside of the recliner. Just turn it over and look at the base. If there is a supportive base on which to mount the swivel, the fact that the recliner is motorized will not be a factor. Hope it works for you.
I need to make a 4' round rotating stage for 1 to 2 people stand on and spin freely, do you think this would work?
Ray C on Jan 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hello Ray, I have been using the heavy duty swivel to build pedestals with a revolving top to use in trick horse training. Typically I build a pedestal base the attach a 16" diametet round top using the swivel. But a few years ago Zi built a much larger version for two horses to step up on facing each other. The round top was 24" in diameter made by laminating five layers of 3/4" plywood circles together. To keep the top level when a 1000 lb. horse stepped up out towards the edge I mounted six roller wheels on the perimeter.. Because the top was made nearly four inches thick for asthetic reasons I was able to 'hide' the wheels up inside the thick top.
There is a difference in humans and horses and that is you can tell the people involved to carefully place their feet and balance their weight .. however, a four ft diameter swivel top will put a lot of torque on the 7" diameter bearing race if the people are not very careful.. These swivels are very strong and probably will hold up,
But having the caster wheels out on the underside of the perimeter will eliminate any possible tipping of the rotation section..
Will this size work on a 36" square base?

Can this be used on a Flexsteel recliner?
Ron P on Jan 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It is heavy duty enough that I have not had any problem with the boat seats I installed it under. I do safety patrols for the US Coast Guard Auxiliary and experience a lot of very rough water.

I believe the unit would work well under a recliner.

I have a wooden swivel rocker will this extra heavy duty swivel rock and swivel at the same time?
Vesta D on Feb 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I would assume that the rocking and swivel are two different entities. But don't take my word for it. I got these for my metal bar stools and they worked very well.
I have a swivel/ rocker/recliner on which the swivel somehow broke. When I turned it over all of the ball bearings fell out. Can I use this product or do I need one that tilts? The existing one looks like it tilts (the two plates aren't stiffly parallel) but that could be because it's broken. Why doesn't it work to just put the ball bearings back in the track?
Mary Sue B on Jan 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I had a similar problem with my swivel/ rocker/recliner. The Extra Heavy Duty Swivel was just the ticket to get it back to proper operation. The holes lined up, making the replacement relatively simple. I have two of the chairs, one with it's original factory swivel and the Rockler swivel. The new swivel, albeit new, works better than the original.

Carl B on Dec 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: 1026 lbs.
Will this work on a lazy boy.? Do I need anything else.?
Norma T on Oct 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You probably need two PCs of plywood to sandwich the bearing plate in between. One bolted to bottom of chair frame and plate of bearing another bolted to bearing plate and wood contacting floor. You’ll need appropriate bolts for fastening. My lane recliner works great.
