Fiber Seat
Easy to shape and install, using shears and a hammer. When tacking it down in place of the cane seat, be sure to place the tacks outside the holes for the cane. Looks good. I haven't painted it yet, but it made my Grandmothers kitchen chair usable again. I have two more fiber seats for when the old seats go through on the other chairs. These chairs were repaired with masonite by my Grandfather, many long years ago. He wasn't going to re cane them, and I won't either.

The fiber seat was great to work with looks just like the old one when finished did not take a photo since I was repairing the chair for a friend. didn't think of taking a photo. After calling Rockler customer service on what to use to stain it with wasn't sure use leather or regular stain was told could use regular wood stain which I had didn't have to go buy leather stain and put satin poly on was just beautiful friend was very grateful that I was able to repair the chair

I needed to replace the worn...
I needed to replace the worn out imitation leather bottom of a child's rocking chair that had been in my family since at least 1901. I used this protect and was extemely delighted with the result. The pattern was easy to cut to size, and it accepted a light informal coating of stain and the puncture of furniture tacks well. The seat looks compatible to the rest of the chair as to age, appearance, and to style. Wonderful product! Thank you.

Needed to repair cane bottom of old rocker. Applied light stain and waterbase sealer. Marked lines for tacks on back, and drilled 1/16" pilot holes from back every 1" so that tacks could be nailed in from front without damaging material. Product worked super!

I need to replace the seats on three chairs that belonged to my Grandmother. Grandpa had used masonite, and it finally gave out... They were originally caned, but Grandpa didn't do caning, and I'm not going to take the time right now... Maybe later, but somehow I doubt it.

Can the premade Nail strip bend and form to the pattern you make for the seat?
A shopper on Aug 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I just used the decorative nails. I picked a point and spaced them out, so they looked like they were spaced equally all the way around the seat. I cut a small radius at the four corners, after looking a the nail strips, it might hard to make the corners look good and not have something sharp sticking up.
Do these need to be soaked in something to make them more plyable to wrap around seat frame?
Charli W on May 31, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Maybe if it was the leather one if you are stretching it. This one is Fiber if soaked in liquid it'd probably come apart. I followed the directions by cutting to size then tacking in place and lastly painting with a protective layer like polyurethane.

I was wondering if I can glue the fiber seat bottoms to the chair?
Jim K on Jun 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: We used tacks to secure our seat in place on an antique woman's rocker. We trimmed the fiber seat along the etched lines. Once it was stained and sprayed with lacquer it looked beautiful!!
What color is the seat replacement fabric before staining? I need a light color.
Jill B on Oct 22, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Jill, as I recall, the seat material is a light color. Imagine a light shoe leather mixed with cardboard. It stained well with aniline dye I got from Rockler.
What kind of tacks would I use to put this on a seat? Do I tack it from the top or how would I do it?
Ann R on Jan 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: i trimmed it to fit and then i glued it with good contact cement

let dry completely and make sure you set it down straight.will stay like its welded there.
Wanting to use these to replace rush seat ladder back chairs. Could this be wrapped over the wood and secured underneath so no nail heads show?
Susan C on Dec 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This material is quite brittle, if you tried to fold it over the edge of the chair it could tear. If I were brave enough to try it and had an extra seat I would wet it first so it would be more flexable. Good luck
What is the best way to trim the seat?
Debbie S on Dec 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have for both chairs used a shop grade of Fiskars cutters/scissor. They worked just fine and put the old seat on top of the new seat and drawn a pencil on the new one and then cut along the line. Both cut very easy and went well.

What is the best way to stain these fiber seats?
Cheryl M on Jul 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I wish I knew. Fiber seats just do not respond predictably to wood stain. I have not had any good luck in staining fiber seats although many manufacturers state that you can easily do it. My best alternative methods to match existing seat colors include buying multiple seat replacements. Sorry that I cannot help but I admire your (Rockler's) approach to resolving this issue. Hopefully, someone will submit a magical solution. Warren
