headboard-footboard conversion plates
Perfect solution. Got new bed frame to make antique bed longer but headboard and footboard were wider than frame so couldn't bolt them on.. This did the trick. Now we still have our antique bed but it is longer and regular mattress fits with room to tuck in covers. Love it.

I purchased an antique iron bed, but the frame they sent did not belong to the bed! ?? So I bought a generic adjustable bed frame. Then the problem was how to adapt frame & headboard together. I googled frame brackets, & Rockler came up. I know you have reliable profucts & it did the job!! Thanks!
Now will fit queen size bed!

Appears to be just what is needed to minimize the width between the existing twin headboard brackets in order to attach new headboard that lacks about an inch of reaching each side. Also your company was first to appear with a search of headboard brackets on Safari. Thanks for your products and easy shopping.
SHARON R on Jan 19, 2019
This appears to offer an ideal solution to a problem we have of matching a full size antique headboard with a queen size bed frame. Would have been terrific if the plates had hook-ons on one side and the long slots on the other. I am a little anxious about lining up and drilling new bolt holes on the headboard level to each side. But here goes. Thanks.

I have an antique bed frame that doesn't fit modern sizes. I use a full-sized mattrest and just the headboard right now. Is there something similar that would work with hooks instead of bolts?
A shopper on Apr 28, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Sorry no, we do not have any similar brackets to offer for use with hooks.
Will this product accommodate 5/16" bolts, or only 1/4" bolt?
Barb B on Aug 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Only 1/4 "
I'm looking for a double hook on mechanism that can be used for a full size bed and a queen size bed. Both parts have to be hook on. Any thoughts?
bobbi k on Dec 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Debbi, I used to work in the bedding industry, and I have also purchased the double hook-on mechanism for my daughter's bed. Let me say that there are places that sell the frames with the hooks already welded on. The Rockler people can let you know if they have such an item. If that would work with your situation, I'd recommend doing that. The adapters are very difficult to tighten and keep hooked into your headboard/footboard.
My bed has hook on wood side rails. Can I use these?
Susan M on Jul 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No, you will need to buy a queen size metal frame, with headboard and foot board attachment points.

Your headboard and foot board become ornamental, not structural.
Can I lower the height on a king metal bed.? ..
A shopper on May 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: You should be able to do so, simply drill new attachment holes below the level of the present ones.
Can the conversion plates be reversed so that my queen size headboard can be attached to my full
size frame?
Kyle H on Aug 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes that's why I bought them for the same exact reason!
I am looking to use a 3/4 antique head and footboard with twin size mattresses. Will this work?
Erin R on Jul 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: If the side rails are intended to bolt to the headboard then yes. If the side rails have tabs that fit into slots in the headboard the answer is no.
Will this adapter work to attach a full size brass headboard to a queen size bedframe w/mattress?
Nita O on Jan 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: If your brass headboard has round legs it definitely will not work. a full size bed is 54" wide vs a queen at 60". Each bracket would need to cover an extra 3 inches. I would recommend attaching a 1"x 4" across the top of the queen frame, then fasten this to the brass headboard. Also I would make sure that your frame has 4 legs so that the weight is properly supported as well.
Can I use these brackets to attach a regular size bed to a queen size headboard?
Charles U on Apr 5, 2019
BEST ANSWER: We used these brackets on a full sized antique oak bed to expand for a queen size box spring and mattress. The bed had a footboard and side rails but in order to convert and accommodate for the queen mattress we could not use the footboard or side rails. It was a compromise we were willing to make. No one can tell that the headboard is 6inches smaller than the mattress. It went together easily and we are very satisfied.
How does these brackets make bed longer?
Elsie D on Sep 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi Elsie, The brackets do not make the bed longer. If you are using them to make a queen out of a double, the length is the same for a queen and double. A queen is only 6" wider than a double (3" on each side) so you don't even notice that the headboard is not as wide as the mattress. A king size bed is 72" wide, while a queen is 60". These brackets would not work very well I don't think. Hope this helps.
I have a wooden twin headboard with vertical slots. I need rails with hooks that fit in the slots or something that will allow me (converter?) to use no-hook iron rails. Any suggestions? Thank you!
Jan L on Jun 15, 2019
BEST ANSWER: We bought this set of converters for mounting our universal metal bed frame on to a headboard and footboard that we had. They worked great for that purpose. However, we had purchased this particular set because they were a great price but they were also too light weight. The 1st time anyone slept in the bed, the ones at the footboard bent and the footboard was always tilted instead of upright after that. I would say in theory these work great, but do spend a bit more and get a heavier plate.
Will these work for a full to queen conversion with wood side rails with hooks.?
Patricia Y on Jun 14, 2019
BEST ANSWER: You need to replace the side rails with bolt on style like in the picture and drill through the headboard and foot board and bolt them on
I need to convert a full size headboard and footboard to queen. The bed is antique and has the wooden rails with only one hook in the rail?
janice m on Jun 3, 2019
BEST ANSWER: These adapters should work fine. We had an antique headboard with a similar issue and these did the trick
I want to attach a king-size head and foot board to a king size fame ? Can I use this device
BernCe on Apr 1, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I used it to go from standard to queen. Much too light for the job. In your case I would drill headboard and footboard and use carriage bolts with a much heavier plate
I have a king headboard that I want to use on a Queen size bed frame. Will these plates work for that?
Lanita H on Mar 22, 2019
BEST ANSWER: yes, just install the plate the opposite of the diagram...i.e. the 4 horizontal cut outs facing in instead of out
Will this convert my king bed to a queen bed?
Lesley C on Mar 12, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I think it will. We converted a 3/4 bed to full size so I don’t know for certain that it will work in reverse, but it seems reasonable to me.
Once this is done can I use my wood rails to cover the metal?
Barbara H on Feb 3, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately, no. We sacrificed the footboard and both side rails so we could still use our full size headboard with a queen size metal frame and mattress
Is it possible to convert a twin size headboard into a queen size using your attachment pieces. My daughter is buying a quee. Size bed but doesn’t have the money for a whole furniture set so we were wondering if we can use what she has and just use the attachment pieces to make it larger?!
Mary C on Aug 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Adapter 32236 is made to go from Full to Queen which is a change of 7 inches in total width. Adapting from Twin to Queen is a change of over 20 inches and that will not work with these adapters. Also, there might be an appearance problem with such a combination.
What purpose does the embossed "X" in the middle of the plate serve? Your diagram shows the raised part of the X away from the wooden frame. Other installer appears to have the raised X next to the wooden frame. Directions on plate says "this side to frame"...that is the recessed X side. What frame?....the headboard frame? or the metal rail frame?...kind of sort of confusing?
don B on Aug 21, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It's been quite some time since I installed these. As I remember, it seems you would want the flat side towards the metal rail and the raised side in the wood side. Otherwise the raised portion would prevent the metal rail from sitting flush or close to the extender plate. Hope this helps.
Can I convert a queen headboard an foot board to king?
Shelly L on Jul 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I used these to convert an antique full to a queen. Worked well.
Will this work with no bolt side rails?
Jacqueline N on Mar 17, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I don’t think so. The plates are made to bolt to the headboard and then you bolt the bedframe to the plates. We comverted a full size bed to a queen size and they worked great, but again we had bolt holes for the frame and headboard.
I have a queen size wooden frame bed(headboard, footboard, and side rails). Is there a bracket that can help me convert it for the use a full size box spring and mattress set?
Marina G on Mar 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: These brackets are designed to make a headboard/footboard wider. I don't know if they will work to make a queen headboard/footboard narrower to accommodate a full size mattress. Most people seem to want to make a full size bed into a queen size bed, not the other way around!
Can I use these extenders I have queen wanted to make it king ?
Kim S on Oct 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Doubt it, they do not extend that wide. Also, bc they hit so low on the headboard, it makes your headboard a little wobbly, but it did the trick for us when we couldn't use our existing bed rails.
Will I have to drill holes in my bed or are one side of the plates have the hooks that go into the legs?
John B on Aug 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I used the adaptors to convert a double bed headboard for a queen size bed. I did not have to drill any holes in anything. The adaptor provides plenty of wiggle room to fit the rails. However I just attached the headboard to a "harvard" bed frame and did not use the side rails or foot board. I've recommended these adaptors to several antique shops in my area that have many double bed frames for sale that no one wants. I have referred the Rockler website to the dealers.
