Great connection.
Exactly what is needed when going from 4 inch to 2.5 OD vacuum line connections. The outside diameter (2.25”) of this adapter fits exactly inside a 2.5 inch connection.

Woodworking Experience:
Reducer should have been flexible material
Fit, the two and half inch hose. Didn't fit the grizzly bandsaw larger then four inch inch side, needed to be expandable.

Woodworking Experience:
This is just as described!
However, I had to go in search of another part to adapt it for use with my Makita Planer out feed. It has a 3+ inch outside diameter and approximately 2 7/8 inch inside diameter. I wish either Makita would change the dust collector to a standard size, or that someone would make an adapter specifically to fit it. I ended up getting a Ridgid shop vaccuum extension wand that fit the inside diameter of the dust collector, on one end and the 2 1/2 inch end of this fitting on the other, to connect to my 4 inch dust collector hoses. Not the best solution.

I need a quick fitting to connect my 2-1/4" vacuum hose to a 1-7/8" chop saw port. Do you have such a part?
Clare T on May 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: We do not have a reducer that works with that.
I NEED A REDUCER WITH 2 1/4" ID to connect to a 1" ID or 2 1/2" OD connect to 1 1/4" OD pls advise ?
Robert O on Aug 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This item has a (large end) dimension of 3.94 o.d. and 3.69 i.d., therefore it should fit into a 4" i.d. fitting just right. The (small end) has a dimension of 2.48 o.d. and 2.28 i.d., therefore it should fit INTO a 2.5" i.d. fitting also just right. No 1" fitting will work with this. No 1.25" fitting will work with this.
Does the large end connect directly with the dust right handle? I’m looking to adapt down for smaller hand held tools with no clamps, quick change style.

I need 2 1/2" ID to 4" OD adapter will this work?
Amy B on May 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Measurements for Reducer with label 4" x 2-1/2" #89195 . . The smaller side has an Inside diameter of 2.300". The Outside diameter is 2.485". The thickness of the material is about 0.10". The larger side has an Inside diameter of 3.705". The Outside diameter is 3.928". The thickness of the material is about 0.128". Because of slight tolerance differences the math isn't exact. My Craftsman Wet/Dry shop vac hose will fit snug inside the small end of the adapter. My application used the clear dust collection hose sold by Rockler in 4" (#22791) and 2-1/2" (#22784) sizes. They will fit the outside dimensions of the adapter.
Will the 2 1/2 side fit a dewalt planer?
C. S on Jul 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I don't know. I don't have a planer to check. If it doesn't fit, use the rubber connector with worm gear straps for connection.
Will this 4" to 2-1/2" adapter fit into or onto the 42254 Mini dust hood?
Tom D on Sep 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the adapter was a good fit in my dust collection system and has been a full time part of the system since I purchased it.

Will the 4" to 2 1/2" reducer connect a 4" blast gate to the hose on my Small Port Hose Kit?
Fred W on Mar 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I'm sure it will work. I use sheet metal screws to attach mine.
JOHN R on Dec 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Vacuum hose adapters are not standardized in any meaningful way. I have several dozen adapters and still I have to modify some with the use of electricians tape (makes an OD a little larger) and by reaming out the ID with a knife or sandpaper or an old fashion barrel bung reamer. Among my many adapters there are NONE that meet the size you say you need. If it were me I would take a 2" OD item and enlarge one end of it to 2.25 by wrapping 1/4" of bicycle innertube around it and finish it off with electrical tape. It has worked for me a hundred times. It is durable and air tight.
I have a Kobalt table saw with an exhaust portal of 2 1/2". will this fit the saw and go into a shop vac of the same size or smaller?
