An easy to apply finish designed for wood pens and other turned wood items. Creates an instant durable finish. No drying time required. This finish is designed specifically for applying to wood pens or other wood turnings as they are spinning on the lathe. Use the satin gloss block for an easy-to-apply finish to your pens or pencils. For a gloss finish, first use the satin gloss block followed by the high gloss block.

Unreal! No smell! No Mess! No Cleanup!
I turn a lot pens using kiln dried Bois D'arc. By the time I have the pen turned and final sanding with 1200 grit followed by a wipe down with denatured alcohol the blank is ready for both wax sticks. High speed and good buffing with a soft cloth the gloss is better than I have achieved even wet sending and polishing other finishes.

I've only used this a couple of times. I am hoping it meets the advertising; that it hold up better than shellac on top of a wax base.

In February of this year, I...
In February of this year, I became the proud owner of a brand new wood lathe. I thought that a good way to learn how to use it would be to make some pens. The combination of these two HUT finishing bars has made lustrous finishes so simple that I can concentrate on learning some turning skills.

Need to have a good surface
Need to have a good surface
you need a well sanded surface if you don't the wax will get in the grain and if you can't get it hot you end up with a white spots

I have been using the Hut Wood wax bars (all colors for different woods) for more than 10 years and the results have been great. After applying the bar wax I finish the turned item I apply one coat of Hut Crystal Coat liquid friction finish. The color of the wood just pops out and stays with a long lasting shine. Finishing deer antler?
Robert B on Dec 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It would add a polish to the antler. I don't think it could hurt it. Be forewarned that if u sand or grind the antlers u will get some horrific smells.
Is hut wax food safe?
Morse C on Sep 22, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I was told by Brian Miller at Cerritos college that all comersial finishes are safe to eat off after they have dried
I have never used this product, do you just rub the stick on your pen blanks like you would apply compound to a buffing wheel?
Dennis S on Dec 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yup. That's what I did when I used this. Then just buff with a cloth. It works pretty well, but I like using liquid finish much better.
