i-socket 110m Tool and Vacuum Switch

Intelligent plug-in switch automatically controls a vacuum or dust collector through the power tool's on/off switch! Eliminates continual running of vacuum to preserve the vacuum motor life. Ideal for miter saws, table saws, sanders, routers and planers. Easy to install - just plug it in! Can be used with any standard 15 amp/125 volt wet/dry vacuum or dust collector system (max 1.0 HP) or power feed unit. Control two tools at the same time! Now you don't have to remember to power the vacuum on and off during every cut - the i-socket does it for you. Automatically turns on the wet/dry vacuum or dust collector when the tool is powered on, and continues running for an additional 7 seconds to clean out the inlet pipe after the tool is powered off.

Features:
  • On-board micro-controller controls the in-rush of current and delay off
  • Designed for medium-duty work loads in the home workshop and on the job site
  • Can be used with any standard 15 amp/125 volt wet/dry vacuum or dust collector system (max 1.0 HP) or power feed unit
  • For indoor use only.

This thing is just what I’ve been looking for, no more back and forth to turn shop vac on and off. Haven’t used it a whole lot, about 200ft. Of 1x4 through the planer, so far it’s working perfect, thank you rockler. I would definently recommend this tool.

Outstanding addition to my workshop
This simple, inexpensive device is a welcome addition. It doesn’t really help the quality of my work, but definitely improves the experience! It completely eliminates the annoyance of having to turn on the vac with every saw cut or having to listen to the noisy vac continuously. My only complaint is that I didn’t know about this device sooner!

The microprocessor sets the low threshold trip level so a small appliance/tool (lamp, Fein® multimaster) can be used to start a medium shop vacuum. 7-second delay-on-off clears corrugated hoses.

Rich P on Dec 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have two that I use with shop vacs. It's rated for 15 amps/110 volts. I guess I'd let that be my guide. They work well. I hope it works for you.
How many watts does it take to turn this on?
Patricia N on Aug 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The actuation threshold is the minimum amount of current that needs to flow through the primary/TOOL outlet before the microprocessor turns on the secondary/VAC outlet. This current level is set to about 0.7 amps, which is roughly 85 watts at 120V).
Can this be used with a 10" table saw?

i am wanting my dust collection to turn on the I start the foot pedal of my rotary tool. Will this work?
susan w on Jan 7, 2017

Does this work with a Sawstop?
Johnjss on Sep 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I should work with any shop equipment. Then only thing you need to do is look at the amp pull of the equipment you want to plug in make sure you are not pull more then 15A.
I have several tools hooked up to one vacuum. If I plug the vacuum into this and a power strip with the other tools plugged into the tool socket will it still turn on the vacuum when any of the tools in the power switch are turned on?
JOE Z on Sep 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have a similar setup. I have a power strip on my workbench which has a bandsaw, a router table and a miter saw all plugged in. The I-socket has a level amperage needed to actually turn the vacuum on. Every tool I have tried draws enough to always start the vacuum. The reason I mention this is by accident I purchased a couple of 10 watt LED spotlights to light my work area and I am able to plug those into the same power strip, but since they draw so little power they do not trigger the vacuum. Thus a happy accident, I have light always and the vacuum starts when a tool starts. Be aware I believe there is an upper limit on amperage but I have yet to exceed that. I was skeptical when I first purchased but I would buy this again in a heartbeat for my shop.
Does it work with a trail socket?
Terry C on Dec 19, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I don't know, I have it mounted to my miter saw station and it works fine there.
Can I attach my plasma tv as the "tool" and have the i-socket activate a small box computer fan to keep the TV cool?
Mark H on Feb 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I don't see why not. The fan will run a few seconds after the TV is turned off, which could be a good thing.
Is this UL listed?
Tom R on Oct 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: yes
Instead of plugging in a shop vac could i plug in a light bulb? I'm hard of hearing and would use this as an indicator light
Frank on Oct 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Sure. Whatever you plug in will light up as soon as you start the tool.
