Excellent Gauge
Love this guage's features with the various readouts in decimal, fraction and metric. Very easy to use. Works great for table saw and router height, and product thicknesses. Very rugged and well made product. Price extremely reasonable. Would definitely recommend it.

Great little tool - accurate and east to use
Setting joint cutting router bits is a tough job and I had been considering a $300 router lift. This tool allows me to make more accurate positions (.0005") than the $300 lift! Very simple and easy to use, plenty of area to use for measuring. Comes with a spare coin cell. It also has a data output for collecting multiple readings in a production QA environment.

I just made 5 half lap...
I just made 5 half lap doors and did so by adjusting the blade height manually until I got it right. I then purchased this product from Rockler to aid in making the next set of 8 half lap doors. It is perfect for this project. Easy to use and extremely accurate in adjusting blade height to perfect setting first time. The magnetic base is strong enough that the unit stays put when you place the arm of the gauge over the blade and raise the blade. I also purchased a new zero clearance insert for my saw and used the gauge to adjust all four corners of the insert to be exactly .0005" below table surface. Will be great for setting router bit height, measuring exact thickness of wood, etc. Outstanding product, simple to use.

great for router bit set up
Magnetic bottom helps hold it in place and it's easy to use for table saw blade set and checking rip fence to blade parallel.

The gauge had...
The gauge had 6 small magnets that fit into slots in the base of the gauge. They all came out, two are stuck somewhere on my saw, and the other four will not stay in the slots and will not glue secure. I am returning this item.

It seems reasonably priced for setting the knife height on my jointer, blade height on my table saw, bit height on my router.

What is the frame that holds the depth gauge made of?
paul b on Aug 20, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The vertical ruler is a steel alloy 0.157” thick and 0.875 wide. The base feels like aluminum that is weighted with magnets at bottom- at least that’s my pest guess- Very sturdy
I have purchased two of these height gauges and I need to find out if the "leg" that measures the height comes in different distances from the vertical portion of the gauge? The "foot" on the measurement leg extends too far away from the body of the device for my application. Thanks. Ken

BEST ANSWER: Hello Ken,
I don't know why Rockler called me Amy, when my name is Barry. Nonetheless, I have not seen any other style of gauge that fits your needs. However, I suppose you could fashion something as an attachment to your unit that could create a new leg closer to the body of the device. This should not upset the measurement since you can re-zero the device to the new attachment. Perhaps a popcycle stick clamped to the leg would suffice. Good luck.
