When it comes to jointer setups, layout, drafting, lapping the sole of a handplane, or checking lumber for warp, a precision straight edge is an essential tool for the shop. These premium straight edges are meticulously ground and lapped for straightness and parallelism, and they feature a beveled edge with a precision 1/64" scale, which means they double as precision rulers. Available in 12", 24" and 36" lengths, they feature a hanging hole, and include a protective case if you prefer to store them in a drawer.

The numbers are very small but I didn't buy it for those. It is straight as an arrow and works extremely well. There is a knife like edge along one surface and easily shows any deviation on the surface that you are checking. Also has a hole on one end to hang when not using. Great value for the price.
I am a beginning luthier and was in need of a straight edge. I looked into Stew Mac straight edge, but they don't have the rule with theirs and it is considerably more expensive. This straight edge is nice and weighty, and the rule seems very precise. If you are a beginning luthier or wood worker, I think this would more than suit your needs.
They are not Starret or hand scraped Bridgeport, but they are pretty darn decent for the price. A company that sells these for luthrie use charges 80% more for a less accurate product. I know if you put the words, gun smithing, luthrie, jewelry, etc in front of a simple product the price goes up 50%-500%. These are kinda thin, but they are supposedly parallel so the non knife edge is also straight. They work quite well for me. .001" will make a guitar not play at all on one string at that fret. So far these are working fine for set ups on instruments and tools alike.Rockler ships fast, and safe.
The product is exactly as advertised and is a high quality straight edge with a precision ruler. It makes an excellent dual-purpose straight edge and ruler. I find, however, that I mostly want to use it as a straight edge and have lots of other rulers to use for measurement. The thin design of this straight edge makes it fairly easy to knock-over so I find myself being very careful with it to avoid damaging the straight edge, my workpiece, or my equipment when I accidentally (and quite easily) knock it over. If you're really looking for a straight edge and don't want to have to baby-it then look for a different product. If you want (and really need) the dual functionality then this a quality ruler/straight-edge combo.
Not expecting straight edge this price to be super precision but the quality control is terrible. The bevel edge is very thin and mine came with lots of knicks and dings along the bevel. Also it is bent at the two ends so when put flat on the side, it doesn't lay flat.
I chose this item because I will be building guitars, and this has ruler marks to make precise measurements. Also it is much less money than the same thing without the ruler from Stewmac and I don't doubt that it is better quality.

BEST ANSWER:I believe that these rules are not stainless. I checked mine and it is magnetic (although some stainless steels are magnetic). Igaging also lists the items as "hardened steel, satin chrome finished" and they list other of their rule products as "hardened stainless, satin chrome"

I don't believe it is made of stainless but it is very nice and straight. The one I ordered came with a small coat of oil on it while in the clear plastic sleeve it is in. I've had no problems or experience with any rusting at this point. It's a great buy!!
Hardened steel, satin chrome plated......The iGaging web site does not say if it is stainless or not. I would call them directly if it is that important to you. I own the 36". Great product!
BEST ANSWER:Sorry but I don’t have that straight edge but I’m very happy with the 24”. I use it to check the level of frets on string musical instrument I build. I have checked mine and it’s better than 001”. I will go out on a limb and say if that’s the tolerance they give then it will meet it. I’m happy with mine.
