I bought two of these for a 3200 square foot shop with plenty of industrial machines in it which all have dust collectors on them But we handled a lot of cedar logs and big trees in there and the sanding and air hoses cleaning the logs while we take the bark off was pretty tuff to stay in there. But these two do a very good job getting all that dust and little saw dust we kick up

Woodworking Experience:
Well worth the money!
I have only had it in operation a few weeks, but it seems to be doing a fantastic job. Not as quiet as I thought it might be, but not offensive. I would highly reccomend this item. It is pricey, but worth it.

If I have 4,360 sq. feet of woodshop, how many 1700 cfm air-filtration units do I need?
rick a on Apr 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: If this is a shop that gets constant use then I would say 2 units would keep the air clean enough.
If it is a shop that you use every now and then then I would say 1 would be sufficient.
I have a 29000 cubic foot shop space used by by 20 wood workers 6+ hours a day. How many units will I need?
Dennis D on May 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I would say that a minimum of 4 would work well, six would work better
what is the weight of the unit?
A shopper on May 26, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Weight according to book in 110 pounds for the unit. Suggest if hanging, that everything can hold at least 220 pounds.
I'm a woodworking instructor at a high school with a shop that is ~3000 square feet and about 51,400 cubic feet. I'm in need of supplemental air filtration. I do currently have the majority of machines hooked up to dust collection These would be positioned above the stationary sanders and work benches where the dust is finest and where I have the least amount of dust collection.

What quantity would be ideal for my situation?
Von F on Aug 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Rockler forwarded your question to me for my response. I purchased one of these air filters (AFS- 2000) about 9 months ago for my home shop. My shop is about 900 sq ft (about 8,000 cubic ft) I have all my main machines hooked up to dust collection and I have a down draft workbench/sanding table. My AFS-2000 is mounted close to the center of this space. I usually turn it on when I am sanding, and use the feature to run the unit for a few hours after I am done. It has worked well for me in my situation. Despite the dust collection and the air filter, I still get some dust on the floor and other storage surfaces, but it has been a lot less with the AFS-2000 than before. I don't know the configuration of your shop, so my thought would be to initially purchase 2 systems and locate them in the sanding and work bench areas. Give that a try and see if you need more after some trial time.

My shop is all concrete (floor, walls and ceiling), so I have to work a little harder to mount things. I mounted my AFS-2000 to the ceiling using some metal L rail with holes. I then used 4 clips to connect the unit to the L rail. With my ceiling height the unit is far enough above my head that I don't worry about bumping into it, but low enough that I can reach the control panel standing on the floor.

Nice unit, does what it says it will do. I really like the remote control feature and the ability to set the unit to run for 2, 4, or 8 hours on its own with an automatic shut-off.
How loud is the unit at full speed?
Travis M on Aug 22, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Definitely lower than my vortex sawdust collector. It isn't so loud that I cannot listen to music at the same time in my 39 x 25 shop. I leave it running two hours and rarely shut it off early.
Can you use this for a 3000sqft metalworking shop?
steph f on Mar 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Steph f: I have the Jet AFS-2000 system in my shop. It is a woodshop (not metal) and it is about 900 Sq Ft. I use it to supplement dust collection that I have with a Grizzly 2HP Cyclone system. It works great for my application. A 3000sq ft metal shop is pretty big. Seems to me that this unit would do a good job with smoke and fumes from welding in that size space. The system is well designed and includes a remote control. That is nice because I have it attached to the ceiling. It also has shutoff timers that I really like. I can select to run the unit for 2, 4 or 6 hours and then shutoff automatically. This unit is pretty quiet, and it will exchange the air I'm my shop about 8 times per hour.
How much noise does the Jet AFS-2000 model create at each of the 3 speeds?
JL9242 on Feb 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The air filter is very quiet. You almost forget that it is operating, especially if you are using any shop equipment or perhaps running a dust collection system.
Can these units operate on 220v or are they designed for 110v? Also, I am assuming there are filters inside that can either be cleaned or replaced. Do you have information relating to that (either how or cost of replacing them). Thanks.
Andrew M on Nov 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Runs on 110. Replacing filters is easy slip fit. Cost should be at Rocklers.
I have a 15m x 15m x 3.5m school workshop. This is a volume of approx 790 cubic meters ( 28,000 cubic feet). How many units would I need?
Andrew M on Oct 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The Jet AFS-2000 can clear 1300 cfms of air in your shop every minute so 1 would take about 21 minutes to clear the air. I would recommend at least two if there is a lot of activity in the shop. These can be turned on by remote and can have them on for a certain amount of time
