The distinctive half-mortise lock is the ideal choice for a jewelry box due to it's half-mortise design, which means that lock hardware is not visible from outside the case. Use the included key to activate the smooth, positive action lock. While the solid brass hinges and supports allow smooth opening operation and have a 95° stop degree, keeping the lid of your jewelry box up at the open position.

Great hardware
I've built 2 boxes, using this hardware, and they are beautiful. The quality of the hardware is excellent but the directions stink! Too many details were left out or just plain wrong. With a little thought I was able to install them correctly and the ladies were thrilled.

Woodworking Experience:
Great hardware and concept
I have built 5 of these beauties. The 1st one was a lot of head scratching because the plans although adequate, do leave out detail that would be helpful. I used a lot of innovation to make the box come out to plans. After 1st one however it was a lot of fun.

I've yet to install this hardware but, upon inspection, I find it to be of good quality. It's very expensive , for what I'm getting, but then you get what you pay for. I do believe that I can fabricate my own, out of brass stock, for considerably less or even make the hardware from wood at a very substantial savings.

Good design and beautiful box, but...
Good design and beautiful box, but the plans are woefully inadequate. Too many details are left out of the instructions. I'll be making more of these, but next time with some design changes to ease the machining of the parts and assembly.

Doesn't show the level of detail...
Doesn't show the level of detail I had hoped for. Ambiguous instructions for some parts.

is this hardware designed to go with your Walnut Jewelry Box Kit?
John on Nov 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the jewelry box hardware kit is for the jewelry box shown in these pictures. If you order the plan the wood specified is mahogany but I used walnut. The hardware works very nicely if you do and exact job of following the plan. I made 12 of these several years ago and am in the process of making more.
I was going to order several Jewelry Box Hardware Kit Item #: 50807, but am unable to locate the plan for it. I've done the usual searches, but no luck. Please tell me how to obtain the plans for the item as shown before I place the order?

BEST ANSWER: The full size Plan and instructions are in the September/October 1994 issue of "Todays Woodworker".
will this work with with a jewelry box that isn't from the kit?
Chris M on Jan 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Sure. The hinges and lock mortises are pretty straightforward, but the tray supports, in order to work flawlessly, have to be put in very precisely. But it certainly can be used on a modified design.
