fantastic tool, you will love the results!
My son and I built a small deck just outside of our back door, we used the Kreg deck jig and loved the results. Everything is hidden and no worries about stepping on or tripping over a screw that has pulled out over time. The jig does take longer than just drilling screws through the top of boards but it is well worth the time. My tip is to use a minimum of 2 drills during the process. We are looking forward to our next project with the deck jig.

Works!
Built a 20' x 20' cedar deck. System perform flawlessly. Takes a little more time than screwing from the top; but the final product is priceless. What a difference hidden fasteners make.

It is very easy to set...
It is very easy to set up, learn, and use. My two teenage grandchildren did the whole 12' x 24' deck. We timed them at 3 minutes per 12' cedar board. The deck looks wonderful with no surface holes. It's really a great product, and is well worth the cost, even with free labor.

What a little ripper..!!! Just did...
What a little ripper..!!! Just did my 5 metre by 4 metre decking using Aussie hardwood which is tough and tends to curve and cup until nailed screwed down. The Kreg worked wonderfully....another winner from Kreg.

I purchased this to redo my deck. I have used it a few times and it works great.

The screws are nearly invisible when the deck is assembled

This kit allows me to put down decking without visible fastners, less expensively than other types of concealed fastening systems. The system has worked well for me on all of my decks.

Building a new deck and wanted hidden screw system. Love the Kreg pocket-hole jig and figured this would be the same quality. Reviewed a couple other hidden-deck systems and this seemed to be the least complicated to use, and got good reviews.

I used one at work today, and it was awsom. The people at Kreg have a lot of very clever products.
Attaching deck boards using this method is so much better than screwing through the face of the boards that I had to have the tool myself.

Will it work on 2 x 6 (1 1/2" thick) ?
A shopper on Jun 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I used it to install a large deck made with 2x2s. It worked very well. I don't see why it would not work well on the 2x6s. Good luck
Will this jig work on grooved edges on Trex?
Kent L on Sep 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Honestly, I wouldn't use it for grooved edges of any kind, let along Trex. It needs the material to have the bite at the angle which it drives the screws. Not having a squared edge may allow the screw to be driven too deep, thus making it come through the material. I think it is better suited to squared edges, of a wooden material.
About to build a deck using 5/4 lumber. I have used the pocket hole jig and love it. Will this work on that lumber? Also, what size screws are recommended?
Thomas P on May 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: 5/4" is standard thickness for decking, so the deck jig will work fine with that. You'll just need the standard 2" Kreg deck screws, of which there will be a small sample pack included with the jig.

Will the Kreg Deck jig work on Trex and other plastic boards?
Kevin C on Aug 13, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I recently finished building a deck at my wife's preschool using a combination of both wood lumber and plastic lumber. (Plastic lumber gets very hot in direct sunlight and was not suitable crawling on). Due to different expansion qualities of different materials give gap considerations a lot of attention. A couple of other items needing consideration attention were edge screw jig placement and screw length. These were effected by board thickness. The Jig made board gap alignment and consistent screw placement very quick and easy. I was able to justify it's cost by the time I saved and finished appearance. As a DIY'r it made me look like a pro.
Will this work on 1 1/2" thick boards?
Jess S on Feb 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes
I bought this for my son we used it to replace all the deck boards on his deck.
Can this be used when putting down “wet” boards with no spacing between the boards?
Robin T on May 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No, I'm afraid a minimum of 1/4" spacing between deck boards is necessary for using this jig as intended.
I am replacing the deck for an octagon pattern with 22 1/2 degree miter joints. How close can I to the miter joint with screws on composite decking? Also can you show me a picture or video of the screws in the deck boards?
Max L on Jul 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hello Sir,
You should be able to get relatively close to the edge of composite as it is forgiving and you are pre-drilling before you are driving the screw. I would cut some scrap pieces and do a little trial and error. I know you will be safe a half an inch away so you can go from there. You can find a video on our website of the Deck Jig in use and a few pictures also.( https://www.kregtool.com/store/c24/deck-jigtrade-and-accessories/p263/deck-jigtrade/)
