Kreg Jig® HD Heavy-Duty Pocket Hole System

Go BIG with the Kreg Jig® HD Heavy-Duty Pocket Hole Jig-a supersized, industrial-strength Kreg Jig® optimized for working with 2x4 stock and larger. With all of the famed speed of the original Kreg Jig®, along with robust joints that are 50% stronger, and big 2-1/2" weather coated #14 screws, the Kreg Jig® HD makes a simple, strong joinery system for wall framing, deck railing, outdoor furniture, gazebos, swings, fences, trellises and anything else that will need to stand the test of time and the elements. The Kreg Jig HD is extremely portable for job-site use, simply slip your Kreg Face Clamp (#26613, sold separately), into the jig and lock it into place for a one-piece system. Or, if you'd like to use it in the shop, you can also slip it into the benchtop base of the Kreg K3 and K4 jigs (#27204, sold separately) for upright drilling.

Features:

  • Designed with the same tried-and-true efficient design and hardened steel drill guides as the original Kreg Jig®
  • The Kreg Jig® HD lets you drills holes which are 25% larger, and joints that are an amazing 50% stronger than traditional Kreg joints
  • The Kreg Jig® HD is optimized for working with 2x4s and larger stock - anything 1-1/2" thick or thicker
  • Utilizes #14 industrial-quality, heavy-duty, hardened-steel screws, which provide incredible shear resistance as well as 3 anti-corrosion layers for incredible long-term moisture resistance
  • The Kreg Jig® HD works great as a stand-alone jig; simply connect it to your Kreg Face Clamp (#26613, sold separately), lock it into place, and take it wherever you need to go
  • Depending on the project, the Kreg Jig® HD can also connect directly to your model K3 or K4 Kreg Jig® benchtop base (#27204, sold separately) for upright drilling

Easy and strong.
Used to install a bannister newell. Couldn't find extra long screws so had to find alternatives. The combo of the regular HD screws and longer lag screws worked well. Rock solid
Alternated screws and tested first. Sleeve covers all so no plugs needed

Great HEAVY DUTY connection system
Decided to purchase this product to build a farm table for my daughter. I considered using a "standard" Kreg pocket hole system, but due to the 2x* lumber I intended to use, the project begged for a more substantial connector system. This Kreg HD system was just the ticket. I have gone on to use it to build aquarium stands for large volume aquarium (125 gallons and larger) which at 8.3 pounds for gallon they offer great strength. Got a large project? This system is for you.

I have been using standard pocket hole screws and glue to install blocking between joists in tight situations and I worry that the screws aren't really strong enough, then I saw these in the catalog! And it fits in my K4 jig! So I ordered them right away.

Will this work with 1x stock also?
Jon H on May 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No, the Kreg Jig® HD is optimized for working with 2x4s and larger stock - anything 1-1/2" thick or thicker.
It's not clear from the picture but how is it held in place on the workpiece?
A shopper on Jun 15, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I use the kreg face clamp when making furniture. With the combination you can't beat it.
I am building a farmhouse table out of 2X6s for top and aprons. Is the HD unit better for this or the smaller unit?
Chip S on Nov 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I would use the HD with 2x6s. I have built several Cedar above ground garden boxes using the HD system. They are 3 years old and have been outside for a few years and show no signs of any issues with the HD screws. Your table should be fine and the additional size and strength of the HD system should work well with the table since I expect you will be using it inside. Let me know if you have any additional questions

how do you use the jig in wood more narrow than 2x4. I need to join 2x2 to 2x4 and can't figure how to use the jig on this narrow a board.
HARRY R on Feb 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Try clamping 2 2X2s together the use the jig as if it was a 2X4. Just ensure the jig is center over the 2X2 the 2X2 you need.
what about using hd kreg screws to attach breadboard on outdoor table ?
Ken D on Jul 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Kreg HD screws are very aggressive, especially in softwoods. Is breadbod sotwood or hardwood?
So, depending on the density/tjickness of your breadboard, Kreg screws should work for you.

I thought I had seen in another dealer's ad that the HD system would work in the K3, K4, and K5 systems, but in this description the K5 is not listed. Will the HD unit work in the K5 or not?
Norman H on Dec 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hey Norman,

Yes, this will work with the K3, K4, and K5 systems. The drill guide block on all three are the same so the HD System can slide into the drill guide blocks place.

Thank You,
Josh
