The precision ground table top is made of premium grade cast iron, heat treated and ground to a mirror-like flat surface, perfect for the most precise cuts. Includes a 20" x 27" main table with 3/4" x 3/8" miter slots, and fitted with two 10" x 27" cast iron ground wings. Laguna Fusion Table saw

    Harold Posted March 3, 2014
I purchased the saw from the Rockler store in Phoenix, Az. The saw was all set up and all I had to do was zero in the calibration. I encountered a problem trying to remove the riving knife to accommodate some dado cuts. The star shaped knob would not budge until forced only to realize that the D-shaped hole was now round.and was useless. I had to dissemble the entire assembly and use a vise grip to remove the adjustment shaft. An email to the Rockler store who forwarded my email to Laguna which produced an immediate call from Laguna's Jason explaining the problem to be a protective coating for shipping that acts like a locktite result on threads. Jason indicated that new parts would be shipped to me at no charge. My thanks to the Rockler store for making the effort to resolve the problem quickly by forwarding my email to Laguna and to Jason for making things right. All in all, I regard the Laguna saw as well made and especially impressed with the smooth as silk crank wheels operation. It's like a nice piece of furniture in my shop. Parts inadvertently dropped inside the cabinet are easily retrieved by removing the motor vent cover.

    very good saw

I am a professional just starting out. My shop is still small, so a 52" saw was not going to fit. A regular saw at 30" is just to small. I have had this saw for about four months a it has done a fine job.

Purchased from Rockler and an employee...

Purchased from Rockler and an employee drove the saw from one store to another for delivery-above and beyond. Came is a wood case with one long foam filled box for rails. Two of us unpacked and moved the saw itself without much trouble. Wings are cast iron and quite solid. Took about 2 hours to completely set up and tune up. Discard the supplied blade, barely workable for ripping. Added my own Freud 80 tooth finish blade and get great results. I compared many saws, including Saw Stop, but the Laguna stood out. Forget to turn off the saw stop feature with any moist wood and bang, there goes $130 for a new cartridge and blade. Add much more for a dado stack sized cartridge. I cut mixed hard wood and softer woods so its likely that I'd forget once or twice to turn off the safety device. Given that, the safety features on the Laguna are very good and with a GrRipper and compliance with basic safety rules, I don't think the extra money for the Saw Stop made sense. The quality of build on the Laguna is excellent. Heavy duty hand cranks that operate smoothly. Solid wings, not pressed sheet metal. Belt driven motor that gives an extra inch of cutting depth compared to a direct drive saw. 1.75 HP motor is a premium model and cut nicely through 1 3/4 thick hard maple. Dust collection from below the table is excellent with a shroud around the blade leading to a flex tube and 4 inch dust port. Dust also falls into the closed base, but a side panel lifts off easily for fast cleanout. The fence is also terrific. Very accurate and floats a mm or so above the table. Was right on out of the box, which is really unusual. Someone set this up right in the factory. I purchased the 36 inch model because my shop is small. If I had the space, I'd have gotten the 52 inch model, but it is 84 inches wide and just too big for my shop. You can also get this in a 220 model {my saw's motor is set for 115v, but also has a 220 mode}. The size and flatness of the table are both very good. This saw replaced a 1hp contractor model, and the table size really makes it nice for working any wood. I also own Rockler's table saw sled, but it was set up for my old saw and was short of the blade on the Laguna. I removed the miter bar from the bottom and slid the top against the fence, re drilled and countersunk holes for new miter bar bolts using a square to mark the holes positions before drilling and remounting the bar. If you use a home made sled, you will likely have to do the same thing. I also had to put a new top on the outfeed table {used Rockler's part kit to build it} and routed grooves for the miter bar. I purchased a separate zero clearance throat plate for a dado stack. The Laguna enables a very fast switch between a nice blade guard and riving knife. You loosen a star knob to switch from knife to guard and its done. I was able to use my Delta mortising jig with the Laguna by moving the miter bar over. I know there are other brands of hybrid saws to choose from, and several are a bit cheaper. But you get what you pay for, and after using this saw for about 6 weeks, I'd recommend it highly, with the caveat that it is not aimed at a professional cabinet maker. This is likely the last table saw I'll ever buy and I'm really happy I choose this one. It not only work even better than I'd hoped, it is also a very handsome tool that brings a smile every time I step into my shop. I think you'll have the same good experience. /p>
