Linkable 4000-Lumen 4' LED Shop Light

This 4' LED utility light is linkable, allowing you to chain up to 4 identical lights together to light a large work area on a single outlet. Whether you are using it in the shop, garage, laundry room or utility room, it makes a great replacement for those outdated fluorescent fixtures. The LEDs are rated to last for 40,000 hours, and at 4000 lumens, emit very bright light. They operate well in cold weather, with no delay, and you don't have to worry about breakage, mercury leakage, or tube disposal as you do with fluorescents.

  • Included 14'' link cord lets you chain up to four lights together
  • (2) 12" long mounting chains
  • 5' main power cord plugs into outlet
  • 6.5'' pull chain switch
  • Diffuser softens harsh light
  • Efficient—sips only 48 watts of power, but produces 4000 lumens of light
  • Instant on in cold weather
  • Quiet operation—no annoying hum or buzz
  • Long life of up to 40,000 hours
  • Lights are individually switched. In order for all linked lights to be turned on or off at the same requires that they be plugged into a switched outlet.

My replacement
I keep several of these things in reserve. When my 4 bulb fluorescent fixtures go out, I grab one of these and replace it. Bright light - even brighter than the flourescents . No buzz. Smaller in size. Why would you use anything else.

10 and counting
I started with one light just to try it out and I am now up to 10. I keep ordering them when they go on sale.

They are very bright, turn on instantly, and do not make noise. These are a massive improvement over my fluorescent lights.

New shop lights!
Exactly what I was looking for. I looked at lighting at all the box stores and the major online retailers, and the price could not be beat. I used 6 fixtures in my 25 x 25 foot shop, and it is more than enough illumination for my needs. Thanks again Rockler.

They are wonderfully bright lights. I have four for almost a year and would like to finish lighting my basement with these.
James J F on Jul 5, 2018
I have two of these lights in tandem in my garage and one of them just stopped working. I checked the cord and light without success. I am ordering another light due to the set-up already in place. I like the amount of light both of these produce and want to keep the existing set-up in place. I certainly hope this replacement works longer.
RICHARD C on Jun 30, 2018
a better price then the competition offering what appears to be the same product. I've also had good results with Rockler in the past
Jeff K on Jun 24, 2018
These are great replacement for my old fluorescent fixtures, much brighter, use less power and last sooooo much longer! No more climbing to chance burned out tubes every month or so.
Joseph N on Jun 13, 2018
I have a number of ceiling lights in my shop but I have built a series of shelves and I need to illuminate an area which is partially blocked by the shelves. I think this light fixture will fit the bill, and if I need more light, I can link another fixture.
It is a great light. LED is the only way to go and the ones from Rockler work unlike ones I have purchased at other places.

Is it possible to get a longer "link" cord?
John S on Nov 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Rockler sells a 4' cord, Item #53781.
Can this light be mounted directly (flush) to the ceiling?
MARY on Sep 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, needs to be hung by mounting chains
do the LED bulbs come with the fixture? Are these LEDs guaranteed to last a certain time period and if so, who backs up the guarantee. If I read Rocklers guarantee right they would replace your purchase price before 90 days but the owner would have to take the fixture down, package it and send it back to Rocklers for a refund.could the customer just send back the LED bulb and get a replacement?
Paul J on Nov 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The LEDs are not removable so the only option is to handle the fixture as a single unit. The power cord and the chains to hang it can be removed.
How many lights can you link together?
Dennis S on Dec 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The manufacturer states on the packaging of the shop light, that you may link up to 5 lights together.
Could you just cut the plug off and wire it into a switch directly to control the lights?
Justin B on Oct 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I am not an electrician but I think you could just wire it into a different switch so long as you got the polarity right. I would not mess with the switch on the housing until you run it by some one that has LED experience.
So when the bulbs burn out you have to replace the whole light fixture or can you get replacement bulbs?
Justin B on Jul 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The fixture does not have bulbs in the conventional sense. It has strips of high intensity LEDs. Since there are many LEDs that make up a single strip, the chance that all of them failing at once is very small. Because of this aspect of the design, you could have a single LED go out and you may not even notice. If the power supply should completely fail or an entire strip of LEDs burn, that would be the only time the light would be rendered inoperative. The entire fixture would have to then be replaced. With an expected 40,000 life expectancy, you will have to run it 8 hrs a day, 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year, for about 20 years before you should expect any failures.

I have replaced all the old fluorescent fixtures in my garage and woof shop with these LED fixtures. I will never go back to fluorescent lights! These LED lights are great and improved all aspects of working on any project I do - I finally have great lighting all the time!

The initial cost may seem high, but you will not fnd a better light for the price.
Hello, Can anyone suggest to me if the 4,000 lumen LED Shop Light will light up an Area of 10' x 18'? The Ceiling Height is 9'-5". Thank you. Because of old age my eyesight is not as good as it used to be. Also, does it cast a shadow if I work below the light? Thank you and God bless you.
Dinyar D on Mar 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have macular degeneration in one eye so my eyesight isn't the best. I decided to get 4 of these and put them into my 2 car garage workshop. The difference is amazing. It is so bright that it looks like an operating room. The light isn't harsh either. It's very like daylight. I linked them together and the installation only took about 3 hours. The shadow isn't harsh but fuzzy around the edges not like sunlight in that respect. I recommended these to a friend and he has been very pleased with his.
Can these lights be operated from a wall switch?
ironman on Nov 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, if the wall switch controls power to the electrical outlet into which these lights are plugged.
What does the 'bulb' look like? A single LED tube, or a string of small LED lights? If it is the small lights, 1 strip or 2?
Naomi A on Sep 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: There appears to be approximately 155 surface mounted LED lights all mounted in a single row.
They are mounted to a narrow, long PC (printed circuit) board.
I could not tell if there were other electronics in the assembly.
It appears to be well made.
Can these lights be directly linked together without the 14" chord?
Chuck R on Nov 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The short answer is, no. I suppose you could cut the 14" cord and splice it together to make one about 5" long. I think that's as close as you could get the lights with a straight connector. Why not just coil the 14" cord and make them closer?
Are these lights dimmable?
Michael M on Dec 3, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No these lights only come with an on/off function - my experience with these lights has not been good -- one that I bought failed after about 2 months - Rockler replaced it but now after another few months it only comes on about half brightness
Do led lights emitt radio static like fluorescents do?
John R on Nov 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: They don't in my shop. I am not an expert on this but I think the real radio static issue with fluorescents is the ballast. Led's don't have that. I have one old fluorescent fixture in my shop which I need to swap out for leds. Not only do i like the quality of light better but in the cold winter they just come on. Not to mention the energy savings. I am slowly replacing all fluorescents in my house with leds.
Does anyone know if there are any issues with heat buildup ? Is this the reason they must be hung from a chain and not installed in a "flush" type manner. Thanks
Marty W on Jul 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I do not know about heat build-up but the lights are sealed and would require disassembly to mount them flush. There are no mounting holes in the top. I used real short chain. No problem.
Can i use these to start my garden plants?
james h on Feb 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I don't see why not. I use a similar one to start mine. It may not have a perfect spectrum but it should work fine. I used to start all of mine under just regular shop lights with no special bulbs.
Can i link a standard fluorescent unit to this linkable fixture?
Numa P on Jan 22, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Probably not. The cord to link these fixtures is just made for this fixture, it is not a "plug" like you would have on your standard fluorescent fixture. In fact you can only "link" one end of these fixtures to the power end of the next one. These ones from Rockler work really well linked together. I bought some other linkables from Home Depot and the cords come loose and y0u have to replug them in to get them to work. The Rocklers are higher quality.
Will these fixtures work OK with three in series?
Eugene N on Mar 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes - I have three in one corner of the shop. I also bought some similar linkables from Home Depot and they do not work nearly as well as these from Rockler. I am going to purchase some more to completely replace all the fluorescent fixtures in my shop.
What is the dispersal pattern for this light fixture?
Lance C on Jan 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: In my shop with the lamps mounted 8 1/2 ft above the floor, the light spreads at least 7 to 8 ft each side of the fixture (15 or 16 ft total spread). It has a good light spread, no "hot spots".
What is the price on a replacement bulb? I have seen the bulb life hours. Can you get bulbs?
Jack H on Nov 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: There are no bulbs.
Are these lights dimmable?
Wreckinball67 on Nov 5, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The shop light is not dimmable. The light is operated by a pull chain. It is also not recommended to be used with a dimmer switch or device.
Can 8 of these be plugged into one regular 110v outlet? (Two sets of 4 lights linked together, each set plugged into one of the two receptacles of the outlet?)
STEVE B on Jul 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Never tried it. But there shouldn't be any problems. It there any other outlets on the line? If so you msy want to use a dedicated line
How long are the chains?
Edmund R on Mar 11, 2018
BEST ANSWER: About 24 inches.
What type of replacement light bulbs do these take and how expensive are they?
HAHNSKE on Sep 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No replacing the bulbs. This is a row of high powered leds. They will burn out eventually.
Do these lights have a warranty?
Donna P on Jul 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I will look it up, but I think it s a limited warranty. BUT mine have all been 100% in service with no LED fails being used daily for hours while existing fluorescence bulbs in another part of my workshop are turning blacker every week.
What is the color temperature of these LED lights?
Mardes Y on Apr 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: According to the product specs on the side of the box, it is 4000K.
Are these reliable?
Pixxture on Nov 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No hassle returning the defective unit. Very easy
Lifespan - What is a reasonable expectation?
WillSuch on Aug 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Should last a long time. I've had my 4 for 2 yrs now with no issues. As an electrical engineer who has worked on reliability of electronic equipment, I can say that there is very little in an LED light to wear out, unlike the ballast and bulbs in a fluorescent fixture.
I have a 20x30 metal building. How many would I need to light it up adequately? And also a 10x20?
Justin B on Sep 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hung from the height of a 9' ceiling (so, roughly 8.5 ft), each one of my lamps (in a 15 X 20' space) illuminates about a 10' X 8' swatch. Obviously they light a lot more area than that, but the area of brightest intensity for me worked out to roughly 10' X 8'
