M2 Mesh Face Masks, Gray

Comfortable, breathable dust masks with dual exhalation valves that direct hot air away from your safety glasses—no more fogging!
Item #
GRP40396
Rating:
74% of 100

For woodworkers, the basic paper dust masks with rubber band straps have an annoying drawback: every time you exhale, hot, moist air is forced out of the gaps around the bridge of your nose, and your safety glasses quickly become fogged. RZ M2 Mesh Masks circumvent that problem with dual exhalation valves that direct air down and outward, away from your safety glasses. This package includes the standard F1 filters with active carbon, as well as a 3-pack of HEPA filters, both of which screen out particles down to 0.1 micron. The mesh material is lightweight, comfortable against the skin, and allows cooling air to circulate in areas that don't require filtration, such as the back of your neck. As we all know, a mask only benefits you if you wear it, and with no rubber bands to tangle in your hair or chafe against your neck, you won't hesitate to wear this one.

Features:

  • Mesh material is lightweight, breathable and durable
  • Replaceable filters and washable mesh maximize the life of the mask
  • Dual one-way discharge valves reduce condensation on safety goggles
  • Adjustable nose clip also helps to prevent fogging
  • Adjustable velcro strap provides a comfortable fit—not too tight and not too loose

Package includes a 3-Pack of HEPA Filters, offering 40% better breathability than the standard F1 filter!

With their dual layers of particulate filtration, F2 HEPA filters are capable of trapping particles down to 0.1 microns in size. F2 filters do not feature active carbon, but they offer 40% better breathability than the standard F1 filters.

What Size Mask Should I Buy?

Choosing the correct mask size
To determine the correct mask size for your facial structure, we recommend taking exact measurements using the method described below.
1. Measure from the bridge of your nose to just under your chin. *See guide below. (It may be helpful to have a friend assist you) 2. Use the measurements you have taken and match to the best fit from the below: NOTE: If you are on the bubble based on measurements - refer to weight.

  • Extra Large (XL) - 4.5" - 5.5" | 215lbs +
  • Large (L) - 4" - 4.5" | 125lbs - 215lbs
  • Medium (M) - 3.5" - 4" | Up to 125lbs

Filters are designed to match your chosen mask size, i.e. Extra Large (XL) mask houses an XL filter.
Below is a general guide based on body weight (note that facial measurements are more accurate for ensuring correct fit).
  • Extra Large - 215 lbs +
  • Large - 125 lbs - 215 lbs
  • Medium - Up to 125 lbs

(2) F1 Filters with Active Carbon

Beats paper filters
I had a tendency to avoid using a dust mask when I should because the paper masks were too much of a hassle to put on. I can put this one on in a couple of seconds (it uses a Velcro fastener).

It's more comfortable than paper masks and doesn't fog up my glasses. It probably could be a little more comfortable, though. It tends to put pressure on the bridge of my nose when I put it on tight enough to do the job.

This is a mask you will like to use.
I seen this mask online and went to see it at Rockler. Take the time get the right one and mold the metal strip to fit your nose properly. I feel you need to have it custom fit you. And be sure to remove the second filter before trying it on. As wood workers do work with it till it's how you like it and it will serve well.

Very Happy
I tried other designs with little satisfaction. Most were too tight or wouldn't fit my face. First of all, the option to order the largest size made mask very comfortable. The velco wide strap also aided in this regard. While this is my initial reaction, I expect after use I will have the same opinion. The design aspects and overall quality make me feel like the price is very fair.

Best mask I now own
I just enough woodwork that I needed a face mask that would stop 99% of particulates from entering my lungs, I finally found it with the M2 Mesh Mask from Rockler, fit is great and it is very comfortable to wear. Great mask and very happy I purchased one. Thanks for all the first line products.

A Mask I Actually Wear
Dust will kill you and this mask will protect you from it. It's easy to put on and fits good which means I'm 100% more likely to wear it. It does get warm while you're wearing it, but again, the trade off is worth it: having lungs vs not having lungs. Highly recommend.

Great mask/not super comfortable
The mask is as advertised. I bought a large (though I'm not a very large person - 5'7" 160lbs) and it fits great except that the nose clip isn't the most comfortable. I find that I have to have it pinched in order to make my glasses not fog. Other than this slight inconvenience, this is a great mask!

Seems well made, but it doesn't fit
I ordered the largest one according to the chart in the catalog. it is much too large and doesn't touch my chin. I wear glasses and it pushes them up my nose to where the bifocals interfere with my vision.

Currently I use off the shelf generic masks which allow too much fogging of my safety glasses and I'm hoping this will rectify that. Safety first!
Frank M on Apr 21, 2017
The best of the best. Now I have a mask that will fit and not fall apart in two or three uses. Well done.

BEST ANSWER: The mask itself has a stretching Velcro strap in the back. The replaceable filters are held in by the two black vents which unscrew.
How often do the filters need to be changed, and how do you know when it's time to change them?

BEST ANSWER: I’ve had mine for 6 months not changed them yet. It depends on usage if it is worn every day then the frequency would go up. I’ve not noticed an increase in flow restriction so far.
