Metal Tool Magnetizer / DeMagnetizer

Magnetizer / DeMagnetizer

Item #
84666
Rating:

Ideal for both magnetizing and demagnetizing metal or steel tools, especially screwdrivers. Simply place the metal or steel portion of the tool you would like to magnetize into the "+" slot and turn it clockwise several times. Once you are ready to demagnetize your tool simply place the steel or metal portion into the "-" slot and rotate it several times. This ability allows you to make tasks, like grabbing small metal fasteners, easier while still allowing you to reuse the same tool (once demagnetized) on electronics. The compact design of the Magnetizer / DeMagnetizer makes it easy to store and transport.

(1) Tool Magnetizer / DeMagnetizer

Mag/demag
Great little tool. especially when dealing with small screws.
I leave my screwdriver in the mag side for a few minutes and it holds great!

You can't afford not to have one!
Bought this on a whim. It arrived at the same time as another item which had small screws to install it. Gave it a try and it made an otherwise frustrating task a pleasure. I would recommend this to anybody, especially folks with big fingers! I don't do much electronics work anymore so I plan to magnetize all of the screwdrivers in my tool box.

It does the trick.
It's nice to be able to be able to drive screws without having them fall from the driver bit.

A great toolbox addition
I've been using Rockler's magnetized/demagnetizers for years. They come in handy for magnetizing screwdriver tips, etc. I've always kept a couple around the house, in fact I even magnetized a wire coat hanger to retrieve a screw I dropped in a very difficult to reach spot. I ordered my most recent ones to
replace a couple I lost when our home and my shop were destroyed by an EF3 tornado on June 4, 2015. We'll be moving into our new home in a few weeks and I'll begin outfitting my new shop.

I bought two of them over the years from Sears but the magnets were held together with a rubber band which kept breaking. These seem to be held by the plastic case - I will give them a try.

Sometimes having a screw magnetised helps but then again some screws are magnetized and you just need it to be not magnetised.
