Olson® MachSpeed Scroll Saw Blades

Item #
GRP17601
Rating:
84% of 100

Reverse teeth eliminate chipping on the underside of the workpiece, and cut on both the upstroke and the down stroke. Designed after the PGT Precision Ground Tooth blades, their wide teeth-spacing keeps the blade from bogging down. Precision milled to cut easily through both hard and soft woods. MachSpeed scroll saw blades are 5" long blades with plain ends.

Unfortunately, I should have ordered the pin-end blades. The pinless blades are too hard to change in my scroll saw.

MACH Speed blades
Extremely sharp
Work well cutting puzzles or name sign work using 3/4" stock
Cut well - minimal drift or pull
Tend to get dull and lose sharpness faster than other blades

I wish they made a #9 Crown Tooth in the Mach version

Mach Speed saw bladses
I would have given this five stars but two of the blades in the 12 pack were as far as i could tell defective. The others are so far gerat. I never cut straighter lines with so much ease and on some tough maple. The only other thing is it is hard to tell tpo from bottom. There is a diagram on the back of the package but the teeth are so small it is hard to see. I will try these again

Best Blade I have used!
I started on the Olson Scrollsaw blades several years ago. Since, I have used others, (Flying Dutchman, etc) but I always return to the Olson blades. I especially love the 2/0 blades for their quality and durability.

I'm hoping this blade will better cut 1/2" PVC. I've tried different blades high speed and low speed and get melting of the plastic on the inside. The material also melts back together after the cut.

what in the differents between 3R and 5R scroll saw blades ?
john l on Dec 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The major difference is the thickness of wood that the 3R will cut vs the 5R. The secondary difference it the thickness of the kerf (width of the saw blade cutting through the wood).

I'm having trouble cutting 1/2" PVC, I'm getting melting of the material and leaves a very ruff inside edge what is best blade to use?
Jim U on Jul 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I think I would use a band saw or jig saw to cut pvc (I assume pipi)
Which blade is best for cutting 3/4 in pine reverse blade?
Rick C on Oct 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: SInce pine is a relatively soft wood a 5R or a 7R would work depending on the complexity of the piece you are trying to cut. The less tight the curves the larger the blade can be, both in thickness and kerf.
Does Olson make a spiral blade?

I'm cutting 1/2" PVC what is the best blade to use? I'm getting melting of the PVC even with very slow speed cutting
Jim U on Jul 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It sounds like you are using too slow of a feed rate. Also use a more aggressive blade. If that doesn't stop the melting then I would switch to a band saw to cut it
Hey there. I read that a woodrunner no. 5r for 1 to 1.5" cherry. Would that work the same for western red cedar?
Howdy on Feb 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It should but since cedar is softer that cherry you might get a rougher edge on the cedar
