Porter Cable is the best router on the market
Router is awesome. Bought is on sale, they didn’t have the box but had all the stuff inside. So they told me. There was no warranty card. I hope Rockler will support the warranty should I ever need it. The unit is rock solid though and I love it whenever I go to Rockler

Great value router
Great basic router from the old reliable Porter-Cable. I made this wooden steam engine with my router and a 71 year old Porter-Cable radial arm saw (in the background). They don't make 'em like they used to but Porter-Cable is still trying.

Does this router work with a variable speed control ?
Rex B on Apr 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I use this motor in my router table, I have a variable speed control mounted on the outside of the cabinet which is very convenient. I back off on the speed when using large bits, you know you're going too fast when there is vibration.

Would this router be suitable for use in UK ?
John K on Nov 9, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This has been a great router, but it runs on 110vac. I can trembler if you guys are 110 or 220 if you are running on 220 then you need to check if porter cable makes one rated for your voltage if not I would look into a trend router, I believe they are a uk company, I have one of their plunge routers and like that one as well. Good luck, hope this helped.
Are wrenchs included with purchase of Porter Cable router?

1" D x 1-3/4" H x 1/2" Shank Rockler Pattern Flush Trim Bit
Item #: 37348 to pattern shape two pieces of 3/4" thick Marine plywood that will be laminated together to build an inflatable boat transom. Which router would be the best choice for this bit and job? I plan to cut the 1.5" thick transom plug about 1/4" proud of the transom template on all sides so the bit will be trimming about 1/4 of stock 1.5" thick. The transom plug is of such size, shape and weight I figured it would be best to clamp it to the work table and hand hold the router. two concerns are that I want a router powerful enough to do the job without bogging down and rippling the edge yet I want a router that's not to big that I can't control it with two hands. I'm looking at the Porter 690LR or the Porter 7918, is the Porter 7918 to large and powerful to hold two handed? on bench clamped stock? Is there a better choice than one of these routers?

My porter cable router did not have the line scribed on the motor base for measurments. I returned it and that one does not have a line either. Do i have to add my own line ?
Stephen D on May 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Stephan - Not sure what you mean by a line on the router base to measure from, but i can tell you that the brass set up bars they have are great. The bars or magnetic plastic stacking shims work great for me and are quite fast for set ups. They are great for your router table as well.
Is a plunge base available for this router?

BEST ANSWER: What is the part number for the plunger base. I have been looking for this. Called rockler surprisingly they had no clue????πŸ˜–πŸ˜₯
where is it made?
WYATT S on Mar 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The router itself is made in Mexico. The accessories are made in China. I have purchased over 50 of these routers over the years for my high production wood factory and they are excellent. RPM are very high, the cut is smooth and they last under heavy, daily use. Also, they are not as loud as many other routers.

El Tel on Dec 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Lol this is the second time I've gotten this question. My answer is still the same .... If you guys are running 220-250v then see if you can get one rated in uk for that. The ones here are built to run on 110v. Your other option is to look at one from trend I believe they are a uk company I have a plunge router from them and am quite pleased with it .....
