Powermatic PM-TJ Tenoning Jig

Item #

Powermatic has substantially raised the bar on table saw tenoning jigs with the PM-TJ 1799000. Unlike traditional designs, this tenoning jig can be set up using your specific mortise chisel and a piece of scrap wood to register the stock thickness—no measuring, marking or fussy adjustments are required. The jig is adjusted laterally by sliding the wedge-shaped halves in opposing directions, which helps maintain parallelism with the blade. An innovative system of stops makes it easy to make repeatable cuts. Precision machining throughout and lightweight aluminum construction make the PM-TJ a pleasure to use, and a tool that will yield exceptional results time after time.

  • Uses your specific mortise chisel and workpiece for set up, eliminating the need for measuring and marking
  • Adjustable work stop and clamp securely hold your workpiece
  • Handles are located away from the blade, in easily accessible locations
  • Guide bar is adjustable to precisely fit your table saw miter slot
  • Work stop can be angled, and features a magnified indicator
  • Compact, adjustable clamp slides in a T-track at the top of the fence
  • Lightweight construction makes it easy to move on and off your table saw

can the jig be altered to use a 3/4 x 3/16 slot?
jeff c on Sep 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Jeff the jig already has a 3/4 wide bar that comes with. Not sure why you could not retrofit with a shopmade slat that is only 3/16 depth. What kind of saw do you have that only has a 3/16 groove. I love the jig and it’s the only one that fit on my SawStop , but it is pricey. Having said that it’s an excellent value for my money
I havea Delta 10"contractors saw.The riving knife is 1/8"below the top of the blade. There is no riving knife in the video. The comments say it works with a low profile riving knife. Will this work on my saw? I don't wantto remove the riving knife every time I make a tennion cut. Thanks Bill J

BEST ANSWER: I would check the thickness of the low profile rising knife. Some riving knives are wider than thin kerf saw blades. Since the tenoning jig will be setup directly next to the edge of this blade, this could present an issue with the width of the shoulder cut on the tenon. Most likely won’t be a problem, but checking it out first is a good idea. Once I switched to a full kerf blade, I can now use the riving knives that came with my saw.
