A Clean Solution
We have some antique chairs in need of tightening of their joints. The grippers are great, with no messy glue to deal with.

To repair stripped out holes in wood
Robert on Sep 13, 2015
I was speaking with my uncle who buys from Rockler all the time about my oak dining room chairs that are in need of repair. I tried glueing them to no avail. I also don't want to drill them due to the dowels being thin on the ends. He suggested to give these a try and he swears they will do the job and hold up for a long time. I hope they work.

Do you think these would hold a smooth dowel snug, but allow us to remove the dowel when necessary? It's for a child's bed rail.

BEST ANSWER: My experience with this would lead me to say no. This is more of a permanent fix to a wobbly screw. The teeth on the grip do a great job of embedding themselves into the wood and the screw fits itself into the metal. Doing this on a dowel might make the hole larger each time it was removed, if it indeed could be removed.
Will this work on small screws like 6 and 8?
Ferdsr on Apr 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have used in on all sizes of screws. Simply trim it down to the size you need. I use heavy duty scissors like the Milwaukee 48-22-4040.
