Customizable Shop Stand
Decided to give my band saw a new stand & make it lower, since I'm Shrinking and wearing bi-focials. Was IMPRESSED with the quality. But, Then I decided to enclose it. Bought your HD 24" slides ( P.N.45861) for the drawers, because they are 30"+ wide. Turned out quite nice and then when the standard size stands went on sale, bought one to mount my thickness planer.on it. Bill

Very Good Workbench Base
I don't have a ton of room in my garage and had a 20" workbench top that needed a new base. The Rockler shop stand components worked perfectly. The 18" rail gave me the right depth, and the legs are really solid. With all the nuts and bolts included and the ability to level the base with the adjustable feet, the result is very stable. The components also arrived very quickly from Rockler and went together easily. I am very satisfied with this product.

Rockler Customizable Shop Stand Components
Bought and assembled the components for a 3'W X 4'L X 32"H shop stand. It went together very easy with no problems. It's sturdy enough to hold just about anything. If you want quick, easy and sturdy, this would be a great way to go. Highly recommended.

pretty impressive
I tend to be pretty cynical these days when it comes to the quality of manufactured goods but the first set of components that I ordered of these shop stands were pretty impressively built.

straight, square, good fit/finish, no dents/bends, good packaging, holes aligned perfectly, good quality assembly hardware, assembled straight and square with no effort.

based on my first order, I'm going to get another set.

*** one thing I didn't account for (but still works out fine nonetheless) is adding the 4-inches of additional height of the roller wheels to the length of the legs (wish Rockler had reminded me of this in their 'overview steps'.)

I also wish Rockler had the legs in 20-inch and 24-inch lengths besides the 16, 28 and 32.

Shop stand is a winner
This stand is fairly easy to put together and is very strong. I used 3/4" plywood for the shelves and it easily supports my heavy bench top mortiser. I set the stand into a rolling frame (also from Rockler) to make it easy to move around and it works quite well.

Solid worktable
Used the 24 x 48 setup with a butcher block top and the 4 piece caster set made for shop stands. Everything fit as it should and the parts are solid. Casters make the new workplace easy to move, but secure when locked.

BEST ANSWER: Just add the ROCKLER 3 INCH SHOP STAND RISER BLOCKS or the ROCKLER 6 INCH SHOP STAND RISER BLOCKS. You could add more than one set.
What hinges will fit the predrilled holes?
Njmose on Mar 3, 2018
For the top, should I use one or two 3/4" sheets of plywood?
Joe L on May 26, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I think that depends on usage. I set up a stand for a miter sawing an it is very sturdy. For reference I made a stand alone work bench with 2x4 framing and no expanse over 2x3 feet and one sheet of 3/4" and it is very solid. To extend the life of the top and save chisels (when I slip), I topped the plywood with a layer of tempered Masonite that was nailed down and then glued another sheet of tempered Masonite on top. Trimmed it on four sides with the back piece of trim removable so I can take it off for replacement of the Masonite in the future. Just a thought on adding to the flexibility of your top.
why the short legs?
Harry J on May 11, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I even shortened the legs I bought a couple of inches. As when I was designing custom work bench they had 3 sizes of legs when I placed order the did not have shorter at legs I wanted. I customized the work bench so I could use it while using my wheelchair. Also I installed wheels so that also increased height of bench.
do the stretchers come with predrilled flanges to attach plywood tops?
bob j on Apr 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes they do, so it is very easy to secure tops and a shelf on the bottom stretchers.
I want to make a table 30" high with casters. Will these legs be too long if casters and tabletop are added?
Karl C on Dec 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I put a 1 1/2 inch top on i.e. with the feet provided for the legs & it stands 31 inches. I use is as a carving bench so I sit on a stool so the hight is just right. I'm 5'6"" & the 31 inch height would be too low if I stood up to work. I also added stretchers, bought them extra, to add a shelf. All in all it's worked out well.
Hope this helps. Doug H.
What is the max distance between top of Bottom shelf and bottom of Top shelf ?
RickH on Apr 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Using the 32" shop stand legs with 3/4" plywood, the maximum distance between the top of the bottom shelf and bottom of the top shelf is 25 3/8". However, you will need to take into account that the top stretcher will extend an additional 2" below the bottom of the top shelf around the edges, thus possibly reducing the clearance for placing items on the bottom shelf.
How can I install 2 drawers side by side like on one of the pictures? Is there a stretcher or divider available to mount across the middle to be able to mount the drawer slides? The Drawer Mounting Kits and Slide Bracket Kits seem to mount to the sides of the shop stand, but I don't see how to attach them in the middle to have 2 drawers. Thanks in advance.
Alex Z on Mar 4, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I purchased several of the components for the metal shop stands and mounted all my power tools on 3/4 inch plywood tops and MDF bottom shelves.
*** For my table saw, I wanted to have some drawers below the saw. I also couldn't see how to mount drawer slides as you discribed. I ended up buying the shorter table unit and built up drawers on top of the table unit with MDF. I measured the height of my other work table and built up the drawers so that once my table saw was mounted, it would be the same height as my other work table and I could use it to catch pieces of wood that came off the table saw.
Can I bolt two Legs together? I would like to build one work bench with one solid top using a 32" wide stand and a 60" stand. I would prefer to have the workbench on wheels. Do you see any reason this wouldn't work?
jerimi on Feb 15, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Short answer is yes. The carrage bolt heads will/may interfere with a flush fit, but will work.

Would send picture, but cannot attach photos in this forum.
Could I bolt two of these legs together to build a taller stand?
Ragpad on Jun 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I bought this stand and I really like it. I think you absolutely could bolt these legs together to make it higher. They are very sturdy but you should use at least 2 bolts per leg. I use it as a stand for a lathe that is at least a couple hundred pounds. I think a bigger problem might be what you use for the shelving because the legs will handle it.
Would you recommend using these for making a table saw / router table cabinet?
ALAN K on Sep 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Router table cabinet for sure, (that's one of applications I have) but I'm not sure of a table saw. Table saws require a lot of rigidity in all three dimensions and a lot of mass because of potential vibration.
Bye, I have a lot of these frames. I'm really happy with them.
Can this become a 60 inch long by 32 inch wide table for my HD 4 CNC extended bed?
Dan B on Apr 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: the 32" is easy as stretchers come in 36" but the longest stretchers for the 60" side are 48".
that should not be much of a problem as you will want to put a top of say MDF and you would
just have a over-hang of a few inches at both ends. I have 2 tables and they work great (mini-lathe,router)
If you pick carefully a shopvac can fit under for dust collecting

Where can I get door hinges?

BEST ANSWER: Try a good hardware store.
Is this durable for outside under a patio?
Elisabeth W on Jul 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Definitely yes. I use them to support heavy woodworking equipment .
What is a stretcher? Various measurements given mean what-height, width, depth?
Wayne C on Oct 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: the stretchers determine the length and width of the table Example, if you have a 36" long by 24" wide table the stretcher sets you would need would be set of 24" and a set of 36"
Each set contains 4 pieces
I am considering of adding the customizable shop stand. What additional hardware is required to have the double drawer single cabinet featured in the photos?
Fibber on Nov 10, 2015
BEST ANSWER: You would need to get some drawer slides (maybe full extension or over travel ball bearing hinges) and part #49556 to be able to put drawers in it.
