88% of 100

The 18-piece Rockler/Insty-Drive self-centering and countersink set lets you convert from drilling and countersinking to installing perfectly centered hinge screws in a matter of seconds - without re-chucking any bits! The 18-Piece set includes #6, #8 and #10 HSS 2-flute tapered hex shank bits with 4-flute countersinks; #6, #8 and #10 hex shank HSS self-centering bits; Rockler's Insty-Driver; 10 of the most popular drive bits; and a nylon pouch with belt loop.

  • Switch from drilling to driving instantly
  • Just drill the pilot hole, slip on the Insty-Driver and drive home the screws
  • Components are engineered to meet the highest standards for use in industrial applications
  • All Rockler/Insty-Drive bits are precision-ground high speed steel that resist wear and overheating, thus keeping a sharp edge longer
  • Bits can be resharpened easily on a bench grinder
  • Inluded self-centering bits ensure accurate hinge and hardware installation every time
  • Countersink has a 4 flute design for smooth, clean holes that do not require sanding
  • Taper drill bit is adjustable to match length of screw and is held with 1 or 2 hex set screws

How does the Rockler/Insty-Drive System Work?
  • Step 1: Drill the pilot hole with the countersink bits or the self-centering bits, which both have a hex shank to prevent slipping.
  • Step 2: Slip on the Rockler Insty-Driver which fits over Rockler countersink and self-centering bits. Magnetic tip holds all 1/4'' style insert bits and screws.
  • Step 3: Drive home the screws. Then slip off the Insty-Driver and do it again. You'll get fast and accurate hardware installation every time!

Handy Tool
I use a tapered countersink often and I constantly have to switch out the countersink for a T25 bit. The Insty- Drive piece such has made things much better now. Great idea.
My kit was missing two set screws on the #6 countersink and without them holding the borer to the tapered bit, it was usless. Contacted Rockler and they were quick to send me
another #6 bit. Back in business. Thanks Rockler.

Great Multi Tool For One Job
The self centering drill bits are great. Any bracket or hinge will be perfectly placed and installed with this product. After each hole drilled, you can quickly switch to the driver bit tool to secure your hardware quickly. I have truly enjoyed the convenience of this set.

I was building a cart and I drilled the hole then did a counter sink then put in the screw . All took time to change drill, counter sink then screw drive bit. with this tool you only need to add on the drill bit then add the screw drive holder. What a timme saver.

These items have been highly recommended by my neighbor whom has over 40 years as a handcrafted woodworker! Awesome work he does. I helped him craft and build a spice rack for his wife. Ill try adding a picture . I had the chance to use them while we worked on the spice rack.

Michael R on Jan 25, 2020
Needed so I can properly center screws in hinges and other items which are predrilled for mounting and installing. Tired of using center punch all the time. Like the idea of the adaptor to slip on to run screws in without having to change either the bit or driver when only using one corded or cordless drill motor.

Was not happy with the quality of the countersink bits bought at a local big box store. I trust that Rockler’s will be better, and the bit set at the sale price sealed the deal.

Purchased a set 12 years ago. Used hard and put away wet. Literally forgot they where in a bucket and well rain and steel do not mix. Other then me letting them get rusty and a broken bit I would still be using the original set. Great price great time saver.

An earlier question asked if the counter sink bits were depth adjustable and the answer was yes (using allen wrench) but there is no stop collar shown in the product picture. This 18pc kit seems similar to product #69030 which does have a stop collar so how does the dept adjustment works for this kit?
Gary E on Sep 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The length of the bit from the countersink is adjustable. However, to adjust the depth of the countersink you will need to purchase the optional 3/8" stop collar.
I just got this, and it looks good quality, but I just don't understand how to use the carrying case. I feel really dumb about this, but does anyone have a picture of what it looks like in the case?
Roy on Jun 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I watched the "See It in Action" video, and Rockler shows the six large bits in positions 1, 3, and 5 in the top AND bottom plastic insert holes. The large bits are too wide to fit in adjacent insert holes. The problem is that they bump into each other when you fold the case. A better approach would be to put three bits in positions 1, 3, 5 on top, and three bits in positions 2, 4, and 6 on the bottom, so they fit partially in-between each other when folded. This helps the case fold better and flatter. Arrange the screwdriver bits in the uncovered elastic bands or open insert holes according to personal preference.
Is the countersink depth adjustable?
A shopper on May 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes. The countersink is adjustable with the use of a allen wrench.
Can these countersink bits be used in aluminum?
David G on Mar 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I work in wood only, but the bits are made of HHS and you should be able to use them in aluminum.
Will the counter sinks work with any drill bit or only rockler specific?
Eman2 on Dec 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: They work only with the Rockler Drill Bits, as they are not standard. The Rockler Drill Bits have a taper to them where standard drill bits do not. However, I have been using these for quite some time and they work awesome. I would highly recommend.
are the drill bits replaceable if one breaks do you have to buy the countersink and the drill bit?
jose d on Aug 7, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The drill bits are available at Rockler. No you don't have to buy it all together
Are the self centering bits tapered?
JoeBart on Mar 24, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes they are tapered (or beveled) . You are able to see this if you go to Rockler's site, find the item, and zoom-in (below the case upper right side). I have only used a bit on a couple of occasions but it produced an accurate outcome.
Can I purchase replacement drill bits?
