This is the best self-centering bit out there. Buying the ones from big box stores or online were a waste of money.

self centering drill
works great. There is a challenge, though. When trying house it with the institute's jig for face frame concealed hinges, the bit does not fit snugly in the hole. Not sure if the jig is wrong or the drill is wrong, but I followed recommendations of your staff.

Because your catalogue shows the wrong size bit and I had to reorder the correct size. I bought the track style cribbage template and the catalogue says to use the 9/64 BIT BUT THE HOLES ARE TOO SMALL. So I had to reorder the correct size.

When making the Cribbage board with this Self-Centering Bit makes it a lot easier. But do have problem with the plunger portion will not retract half the time. I think the spring inside heats up and compresses. Have to keep stretching the spring.

what size is the drill bit used in each of the 4 tools? I need to replace a bit that is 5/64th, extra long shank.
A shopper on May 10, 2015
BEST ANSWER: #4 is 5/64"
#6 is 3/32"
#8 is 7/64"
#10 is 1/8"
where can I get replacement bits for the #8 (7/64) self centering insta bit?
William C on Jun 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: You can use any bit of the same size. Rockler or big box stores should have them. There's a set screw on the self-centering bit you have to release the bit inside.
can you adjust the drill bit depth or must you use a stop collar to do so ?
Francis G on Oct 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The sleeve has a Allen set screw but I can't determine what it does other than hole the shaft in the sleeve. It seems to me that attempting to use a stop collar would defeat the purpose of the retracting spring loaded sleeve
