Deck looks great
We use this tool when replacing boards on our wood deck, and misplaced it during our last project. Gave this to my Honey-Do with other items for XMas so we are ready when our next project comes up.

Counter sink bit
I was working with a very hard wood and burning two brand name counter sink bits a day. I tried the higher end Rockler counter sink bit and replacement bit and I have replaced the drill bit and still working with the original counter sink. Well worth the extra few $$. 80 feet of 250 feet of a hardwood fence to go.

I've used Rockler/Insty-Drive tapered drill bits for over 20 years in the Industrial Arts program I teach and I've never found anything better. If/when the tapered bits break (as they often do with student use) I can replace them with a standard twist drill and just keep going! To clarify, we only use these for drilling the clearance hole and countersinking/counterboring.

Easier to order via rockler then other site.
Pete N on Nov 18, 2016
Thought they would be better than my old units which mount on the drill bit but instead the bevel portion mounts on the drill bit and has the possibility to turn in hard woods. The body should be one unit and the bit adjusts in and out

I have a large bag of 3/8th tapered plugs I was given. What size countersink will I need to use these 3/8th plugs?
Chris R on Nov 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: You would use the 3/8 countersink. Since you have "tapered" plugs you will need to make sure the holes are deep enough to make the plugs fit tighjtly. You migh consider buying a set of counter sinks to give you an assortment of countger sink options.
