Use your router to create clean, precisely positioned shelf pin holes.

Rockler Shelf Pin Routing Jig

Item #
86% of 100

If you prefer to machine shelf pin holes with a plunge router instead of a drill, this is the jig for you. A router makes an exceptionally clean hole, eliminating the need for shelf pin sleeves. Another key benefit of using a router instead of a drill is that the router base acts as a guide to keep the bit perfectly perpendicular to the workpiece. This becomes especially important when making holes on both sides of an interior cabinet partition. If the drill is angled slightly, the holes won't match up perfectly in the middle, but with a router, they remain precisely spaced and in perfect position for installing hinge plates and drawer slides (important if you plan to use the 32mm Euro system). Router bits sold separately (choose from #90011 or #90000). If you have Bosch router you will need 54217 Bosch RA1129 adapter.

  • 32mm hole spacing and 37mm setback are in alignment with the European or "Euro" cabinet hardware system
  • Included brass guide bushing stores conveniently on the jig
  • Router bit storage in the ends of the jig fence
  • Template and fence are made of sturdy, stable acrylic
  • Dimensions and indexing holes are screen-printed onto the template for easy reference
  • For 1/4'' shelf pin holes, use our 15/64'' router bit (#90011, sold separately)
  • For 5mm shelf pin holes, use our 3/16'' router bit (#90000, sold separately)

Works well but could be longer. Would suggest making wider with two sets of holes and reversible bar for ease of use on back side of cabinet.

Lowest cost alternative
With one jig, I can make either 5mm or 1/4" pin holes. I don't need to buy two jigs and two separate centering/depth stop drill bits. By using a router, the holes stand a better chance of going in perpendicular to the surface. I do wish it had more than 5 holes as there is plenty of room on the jig that could be used. I don't need a special hole for keeping the supplied bushing guide on there.

Room for improvement
Well made, but it doesn't compare to the jigs designed for use with a drill. It doesn't include a bit, and you can only make five holes before having to reset the jig.

How do you align the router bit with the jog holes?
Michael S on Sep 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You use the included guide bushing.
I'm in the UK and using a Dewalt D26204K (similar to one shown by Rockler when advertising this jig), Where can I buy a router base insert that the Rockler Jig guide bushing will fit in to?
andyx on Sep 7, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I don't claim to be any authority on this subject, but I had a similar situation with a Bosch router. I had to purchase an optional exclusive quick change template guide system from a Bosch catalog. You may have to look in a DeWalt catalog to find a similar system to allow you to grip the guide as you use the router and the Rockler router jig. Best of Luck to you.
Are the recommended bits plunge bits? I don't see that they list that.
Kathleen S on Jun 22, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The recommended bits are two flute straight bits.
