SawStop 10'' Jobsite Saw

Item #

Rating:

The SawStop Jobsite Saw packs all of the safety of SawStop's revolutionary blade brake, plus a raft of other innovative features, into a compact, portable table saw. Whether on the jobsite or at home, you can rest easy with the safety and peace of mind of a SawStop saw. Landing somewhere between a benchtop saw and a contractor's saw in terms of size, the SawStop Jobsite Saw offers numerous benefits of both. It includes a pedal-actuated folding stand—one press and it unfolds from a compact vertical storage position to cutting mode. In transport mode, the stand acts as a dolly with 8'' wheels that allow you to easily move it over rough terrain and up ramps and stairs. The cleverly-designed table extension rides on rails that slide out for a maximum rip cut of 25-1/2'' right of the blade, while the smooth-sliding T-square fence ensures precise cuts and excellent parallelism with the blade. Of course, and perhaps best of all, the SawStop safety brake will stop the blade immediately on contact with skin, a particularly important feature on the jobsite where less than ideal working conditions can lead to increased risk of accidents.

Features:
  • SawStop Safety Brake: Brings the blade to a halt almost instantly on contact with skin
  • One-Turn Blade Elevation: Other saws require over 25 turns to raise or lower the blade—with the Jobsite Saw, it's accomplished with a single turn
  • Quick-Tilt Blade Angle: Tilt the blade quickly and easily to your desired angle in 1° increments
  • Micro Adjust Blade Angle: Fine tune your tilt with the infinitely-adjustable micro adjust
  • T-Style Fence with ErgoLock: Jobsite T-Glide Fence slides smoothly and locks firm with the innovative ErgoLock. T-style design minimizes deflection to increase accuracy. Extend the OnDemand Shelf for support when needed
  • Fence Storage Holster: Side brackets offer convenient storage for the fence and cord
  • Low-Profile Blade Guard: The Micro Guard increases visibility and protects against kickback with less interference than other guards. Quickly switch between the Micro Guard and the provided riving knife with the flip of a lever
  • Pedal-Activated Folding Stand: Simply push the pedal to release and fold the cart for travel
  • Large Wheels: 8'' wheels are ideal for the varied terrain of most jobsites
  • Control Box: Features the largest Start/Stop paddle in the category and lights to communicate system status. Use the control box to bypass the safety system to test for and/or cut conductive materials
  • Tool-Free Zero-Clearance Insert: Quickly releases with no need for tools
  • Accessory Storage Drawer: Keep your accessories—your micro guard, riving knife, miter gauge and more—protected and ready at hand with the onboard storage drawer
  • Table Extension Clamp: Locks and unlocks easily, allowing you to quickly extend the table to a full 25-1/2'' rip capacity!

Good saw
I do not have the room for a contractor saw so I had to get a jobsite saw. While not a contractor saw by any means, I think it is fair to say that this is not really comparable to other jobsite saws. I personally feel that it falls into it's own category between contractor saws and jobsite saws.

BTW. The safety aspect gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling

Very happy
Love the saw. It’s everything I expected after “downgrading” from a 1 1/2 HP hybrid saw. Plenty of power but obviously less table top space. Need to invest in some out feed stands. Great dust collection too with a shop vac.

Superb saw beyond just having the emergency blade brake
I had a DeWALT 745 and liked it but this saw exceeds it in every way. For a job site saw, it has a very large work surface. The mobile stand is superb, the blade control mechanisms (lift and tilt) are excellent. Construction quality is top notch, what you would expect for an expensive saw like this. Though it cost 4 times as much as the DeWalt, for the number of years I expect to get out of it, it's very much worth it. The added safety benefit of the blade brake gives peace of mind.

Worth every penny.
My space is extremely limited. Everything must be portable and on wheels. This is so sweet. It folds up compactly and is easily moveable. Add the SawStop safety feature and this is one outstanding setup.

SawStop Jobsite Saw
Replaced my Powermatic 66, feared I might be taking a step down. Jobsite Saw is outstanding. Not quite as powerful as the Powermatic, but superior in many ways. Far safer. Protective features very easy to use. Features of the saw are carefully thought out. Very happy after using it a month.

A no brainer
I just love It! I am on blood thinner medication and this relieves that anxiety of bleeding to death. Of course I do want to keep my fingers. It is a solid piece of equipment, has a great fence, true to the cut. I am totally amazed at the measurement accuracy on the fence guide. Also with my micro size shop it is easily stored away. Which is cheaper, a $1300 saw or a $80,000 hospital bill to reattach some finger digits?

im just making sure there is room for a dado blade on the jss? also is there a separate braking system for the dado blades?.
bruce c on Apr 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: USERS GUIDE: page 22, "Install data brake for 8" dado-set".
Also page 25, reference SAFETY, 'ONLY' use a single standard 10" table saw blade or an 8" dado-set up to 13/16" wide. Non-standard Thicker/Thinner .... may cause damage to your saw. [ ALSO, THE MOTOR WILL NOT START UNLESS A 10" BLADE OR 8" DADO-SET WITH DADO BRAKE CARTRIDGE IS INSTALLED.]
Is the table top cast iron?
A shopper on Jun 15, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No. This is how they have achieved a weight under 200 lbs. I believe they have that option on the contractors saw. I dont think there is the option for the job site saw.
What is the dimensions of the box it's shipped in? I would like to pick it up at your store.
Hard Pull on Jun 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Box is 42" L x 29" W x 25-1/2" H
Can this be secured to a flat surface like a piece of plywood?
Brent A on Apr 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Brent:

Thank you for your question regarding our Jobsite saw. In response, if you attach this saw to a piece of plywood, then any excess sawdust wouldn't be able to fall through the bottom, which would fill up the inside of the saw base.

I hope this answers your question.
Are there any adjustments that can be made to make sure the blade is square to the fence and miter slots?
Tim S on Nov 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: There is great section in the saw owner’s manual that shows how to check and make adjustments to the miter slots in relation to the blade. There are also instructions in a separate manual specific to the fence, for making adjustments to that, in relation to the miter slot. They are available on line on our web site, under “Support”. If there are further questions, feel free to give us a call here at SawStop Service, at 503.582.9934 M-F 7:00 – 5:00 PST.
What size mitre slots does it have? Standard 3/4" or 5/8"?
woodtiger2 on Jan 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Sorry for the delay in responding, I missed this e-mail. The Jobsite saw has 3/4" mitre slots.
can this saw accept thick dada blades?
Steve on Dec 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I went through three different dado blades before I found one that worked. When talking to SawStop, they told me:

Any 8" standard-tooth steel stacked dado set (max width: 13/16") with steel or carbide teeth can be used. For best results, purchase a zero-clearance insert for your dado set.

Do not use dado sets with solid-plate interior chippers, blades with molding heads, or "wobble" dado sets as the brake cartridge is not designed to stop those blade types. Also do not use blades with tooth "shoulders" (often called depth-limiting or anti-kickback shoulders), as these blades will take longer to stop in the event of an accident.

Do not use blades that are over 8 1/16th inches in diameter or under 7 15/16th inches in diameter because the blade will be either too close or too far away from the brake. Even though a blade is labeled as 8 inches in diameter, it might actually be bigger or smaller, so be sure to check.

Here are examples of popular Dado Stack Models that meet the qualifications and can be used on all SawStop saws:

* Forrest Dado King DK0824XXX (5/8" arbor)
* DeWalt DW7670
* Tenryu GMD-20340
* King Canada KSC-8000
* Amana 658040

The auto stop feature? Video mentions something about a cartridge. Is it part of this safety feature. Did not see this mentioned in Rockler's item description. Can you expand on this? Is it included, cost, warranty, etc.?
Wayne C on Sep 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. Yes, when you get one of our saws we include a standard 10" blade and a brake cartridge. If you activate the safety system’s brake, you will need to replace the brake cartridge and evaluate the condition of the blade for future use. Replacing the brake cartridge is simple and can take as little as 90 seconds to complete. A standard brake cartridge costs $69 USD and a dado brake cartridge $89 USD. SawStop saws are designed to absorb the force of activation and are not damaged by it. Also, the Jobsite saw in the picture comes with a 1 year warranty
Does the Sawstop cartridge have to be replaced if used to stop blade?
Morris F on Feb 23, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes it does.
Does it have soft start?
David H on Nov 3, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No, it does not.
How much room is there in front of the blade? What featherboard works with the saw?
Richard K on Sep 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The distance to the blade is variable depending on the height. Similar to other larger saws I have used several types or feather boards, doing boards. Etc with ease clamping them to the fence. Overall best feature is the break—I believe it may have prevented one accident.
where is the jobsite saw made (country of origin)?
Robert G on Dec 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Robert G:
