This is a nice, compact vacuum,...
This is a nice, compact vacuum, but beware! The 1.5" hose is non standard and virtually impossible to find attachments for. It difficult to even find the adapter, except by mail order.

6-1/2 HP A GROSS EXAGGERATION!!!
Very disappointed in Shop-Vac for this marketing B.S.!!

This is a typical exaggerated Horse Power claim!! Sears started this many years ago, but also noted it was based on maximum developed, mathematical HP (Inrush current at start-up).

One Horse Power equates to approximately 750 Watts. That is 6.25 Amps at 120 Volts.

Even a heavy duty, Capacitor Start, motor rarely pulls more than 4x their normal load current at start-up. For a one HP motor that is 4x 6.25 Amps or 25 Amps!! (Causing an instant trip in a 15 Amp breaker.)

Some facts: A 15 Amp/120 Volt Branch Circuit Receptacle is capable of carrying an absolute maximum (inrush) of 15 Amps without tripping the circuit breaker. The normal (not inrush) load on a 15 Amp circuit should NOT exceed 12 Amps (80%). That is a maximum of 1440 Watts: just UNDER 2-HP!!

For a manufacturer to sell a product designed to run in a 15 Amp/120 VAC circuit, then state it is a 6.5 HP device is an out-right FALSEHOOD!

The normal load for a 6.5 HP motor at 120 Volts would be greater than FORTY (40) Amps!! Even without an inrush at all, a 15 amp breaker would immediately trip! If not, you would have a FIRE!!

It’s a simple matter to verify Horse Power claims: Take their HP rating, multiply it by 750, then divide by the stated operation Voltage (typically 120 or 240 Volts). The results should NEVER exceed the stated minimum supply circuit rating, even at start-up!! That’s 15 or 20 Amps for a 120 Volt apparatus (25-50 Amps for 240 Volt apparatus.) Normal operating (not start-up) current should not exceed 80% of the supply circuit’s rating.

In the case of this Shop-Vac product: its 6-½ Horse Power rating is a GROSS EXAGGERATION!!!

Is 195 CFM accurate for this shop vacuum? Going to use it with my Rockler dust separator and my CNC shark mill. I need a lot of vacuum power to collect the chips and dust before they scatter in my work area. . Thanks, John

Regarding the High efficiency drywall disposable filter bag that comes with the Shop-Vac® 6-1/2 HP 10-Gallon Heavy-Duty Portable Wet/Dry Vac - 5873410, where can I get extra filter bags? I couldn't find them on the website here. I already have the vacuum cleaner, I just need a source for the disposable filter bags.
