The door was a solid, sturdy piece for building a coin box. As described in the Q&A section, I built a box with 1/2 by 6-inch oak boards and finished it with Gunstock stain. Getting assistance from a master woodworker and practicing box joints on scrap wood made the project go smoothly.

Mail box door bank
Have constructed five of these and given as gifts. Some woodworking experience is required. Would advise first build with in-expensive lumber. I use 1/2 inch oak and finger joints as shown.

Great hardware
Can't wait to build the bank for my grand-daughter.
If I can find the plans for the wheels and things, I would like to make the truck bank. Maybe I can locate things I need elsewhere.

Nice quality hardware. Ended up not using the brass coin slot cover after the slots milled in nice and clean.

Mailbox doors for my truck banks.
I have purchased three of them so far. I have made three truck banks, one for each one of my grandkids. They are a perfect fit. Every one I have received has worked perfectly.

Great looking door
The mail box doors are a quality product. I have made several of the mail trucks as gifts and everybody was pleased and impressed with them.
I plan to make more in the future.

Just like the doors I purchased from Rockler in the past only the price was a little steeper.

My husband has made several of the Mail Truck Banks from plans downloaded from this site. These doors are recommended and the trucks have turned out looking beautiful. When given as gifts family members have been thrilled. I purchased more of these as they were on sale and are needed for future trucks being built.

I make a Mail Truck Bank for each new Great-Grandchild. This will be number 6 due in May. I have their name and date of birth engraved on top. I sign it on the bottom, date I completed it, and reference a Bible scripture for them to look up later on in life.

Does the door frame have screw mounting holes?
Jean W on Sep 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, Bill it has 4 of them. Two on each side of the frame. They are tabs that extend into the "box" you are mounting the door on and are covered by the frame of the door. As I can recall, 4 small screws are included. Hope this helps.

where can we purchase wheels?
k h on Oct 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have purchased wheels at hobby store and also have found them on old toys at thrift shops and second hand stores.
I purchased two of your mailbox truck kits three years age and have been reluctant to use them after reading the doors are produced in China and contain lead and other toxic products known to cause cancer. How safe are these products for use in kids banks?
Larry M on Nov 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have built 4 banks using the brass doors and do not think they pose a hazard as it is my feeling that these are not daily toys to play with. Rather they are meant to receive coins , be put away and not played with. I would not hesitate to go ahead and use them.
