Simplicity works
Looked to be a pretty basic latch for my purposes and it worked very well. Used 4 of them on a restored dining table with a single 24" leaf to hold the various pieces together. Recommend cocking the individual two pieces 1/8" to effect a variable tightening latch ability. Kit includes three types of straight slot brass screws, but only the flat head screws are usable as the oval heads will not clear the latch. Would recommend using Phillips, Allen or Torx head screws in hard wood instead of what is supplied.

Nice latch
This was a replacement for an old iron table latch on an antique table. It did the job nicely and looks very nice as well. Over time, I hope it develops a nice antique brass patina.

Look good but work very poorly
They are expensive and look very nice. The lower cost Rockler clamps which I purchased previously for a different project don't look as nice, but work very well. These are almost impossible to operate.

What is the size of the smaller half moon? With a 2 inch diameter it would be a 1 inch radius, but it doesn't appear to be split in half, so what is the "height?" I want to use this as a vertical latch on a box but the lid is thin,~0.75 inches.

How long are the brass screws for attaching to the table?
Nan T on Jul 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: 9/16" or 10mm (same thing as far as I can tell), from flat of head to tip of thread
I have a small folding table so two half moons need to be held together. The diameter of the round thus created is only 15.5 inches so intend to put this item in the middle to hold the two moons together robustly from the underneath clearly. The timber is 1/2 inch thick and table is only 20 inches high so quite light etc. Would this do the job?
Nick T on Jan 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I used it on a much larger table (48" )and it worked fine. I placed one on each end of the seam. For 20 inches, you may get by with just one, or use two smaller locks.
Are two required, one on each side?
Susan C on Oct 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: We used two on a 45" table. Possibly if your table was narrow. 36" or less, one might work.
The locks I am replacing measure 2 1/2". Will these still be suitable?
Pamela B on Feb 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Ours are 2" - would probably work for you
