Very cool gift item - everyone's got an itch to scratch!
These are very high quality brass fittings that are well made and very easy to attach to a turning object of your choice. I used some bocote and made about a half-dozen of these for the people in my life at Christmas and they were all very well received and appreciated. I actually went back to buy more when I found out how cool these turned out, but they were sold out by then :-( I'd buy more for sure!

It's the holiday season, my kids...
It's the holiday season, my kids both had back scratchers on their list. I turned the handles to a finished length od about 12 1/2". By the time I screwed the hands in it's about 16" long. One was turned out of kingwood and the other one out of rosewood. Nice heavy brass hand, complete with a brass socket Made a nice gift that will get used for many years to come.

My wife has been begging me...
My wife has been begging me for one of these for years. Bought a pair of these and made the first one the day they arrived. Used a piece of Macassar Ebony I have been saving for something special, it was a big hit. Time to buy more tools!

what size of wood is needed for turning the back scratcher?
mike w on Apr 13, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Well, this is a project waiting to be started. i was looking at around 1/2 diameter, could be a shade less.
Can you customize the product?
Aviv S on Sep 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Aviv S, what I did was to turn a handle long enough so that it was customize for my wife, to attach it just use a jell type of supper glue or use a 5 minute 2 part epoxy, I turned a branch from a hardwood, so that it felt good in my wife's hands then finished it some wipe on polly.

what size bit do you need for back scracther?
Terry F on Jan 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: 1/2" hole for hardwoods or 7/16" hole for softwoods at least 11?2" deep at the center mark. (The same procedure I used for several bottle openers. If you go to rocker website and link to the technical details they describe their suggested instructions. Hope this helps.
What do you use to secure it to the wood? Will glue work or something stronger is needed?
Logan on Nov 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Sorry Logan. My mind is elsewhere and I confused the back scratcher with a shoe horn that I am working on now. Use epoxy and roughen up the brass end fitting with 40 grit sandpaper. Being a lathe person, I turn down the brass fitting so that it fits inside a 12.5 mm tube and then use a 2" tube for added strength.
What is the diamater of the part that goes into the wood?
Matt L on Sep 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: 4" long overall with a 5/8" connector for adding your own custom handle
