I much prefer the other style handle, however I am making this one for a friend and I didn't want to duplicate it to the point that it looked exactly the same as mine.
They are both very good handles and the style is strictly an individual preference.

how long is the cane handle? I need 5 or more inches.
A shopper on May 15, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This cane handle adds 3 to 3 1/4 inches to the total length.
whats the best way to thread the wood shaft?
jim j on Apr 17, 2015
BEST ANSWER: You do not thread the shaft. The collar is meant to be screwed onto the shaft, we had to carefully sand-down the wood-shaft to the point of being able to screw the brass firmly onto the wood. We also filled the threaded brass with a high quality wood glue, it oozed a bit, but we cleaned it up, and after 24 hours we had a completed, good looking and fully functional Cane. Hope this helps. (We used an upright adjustable belt type sander to reduce shaft size to make the brass collar fit.
i have bought cane handles before that are really too small a man's hand. What size are these?
A U on Feb 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Handle aprox 3 3/4 inches. Very comfortable , my hand about 4 inches across under the fingers index to pinky.
Could I use a 1" walnut dowel for the cane shaft?
Glenn C on Jul 1, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, just adjust the length and decrease the width to fit inside the brass as the brass has an out side diameter of about one inch. Have made canes from the oak, walnut and cherry. Have received the highest compliments on the cherry
I'm 6 feet tall would it be recommended for me?
Darrell B on Oct 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes it will work. The fact that your 6 feet tall doesn't matter on the brass cane head. A cane is measured with the user standing straight and his or her arm slightly bent at the elbow and a measurement it taken from the palm to the floor.
I have an existing cane, and want to change the handle. The brass collar that screws onto the eagle styled handle does not match the 'Brass Cane Hardware' I purchased. I need a brass piece that will screw into the eagle collar that can be affixed to the cane shaft. I assumed these canes used a common technology, but clearly they do not. The existing cane shaft has a ⅜" fine threaded rod that is threaded and glued into the wood shaft, and can not be removed. The obvious solution would be to find a brass fitting that screwed into the collar that attaches to the handle on one end, with a female receptacle on the other end, mating both handle and shaft together. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Joseph G on Mar 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: A possible solution would be to cut the end with the screw attached to existing cane shaft then follow the directions precisely to add new handle if any length difference it might be made up on the bottom of cane. As I stated this is a possible solution. Good luck. John
