Humidor
Used it to cover the inside of a custom humidor drawer that I made. It has been sitting at a 68-70 since I seasoned it. Can't ask for anything better.

I modified an 18 inch oak kitchen base cabinet with drawer and door into a cigar humidor. Lining the interior of the cabinet with this veneer was quick and easy. Veneer cuts easily with a utility knife and adheres quickly with contact cement. An enjoyable afternoon project.

Bought at a good price and installation was very easy. I've never used vaneer until now. I bought Spanish cedar for a large humidor I had made out of a piece of furniture. The project came out perfect thanks to the quality of this product.

What type of glue should be used?
Bob W on Nov 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Wood glues that contain little to no VOCs are ideal. Stay away from industrial strength glues and those with medium to high VOC levels as they will ruin your cigar investment.
does this product flex well, I want to make a line a round humidor?
benny on Nov 13, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The veneer is backed with a thin film of plastic to keep it from falling apart. It is flexible both with and aginst the grain. Great product I used it to line the inside of a humidor.
Does Spanish cedar has to be applied inside and outside the BOX?
Bill A on Oct 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Depending on the substrate, it is generally recommended to apply veneer and finish applications to both surfaces to maintain stability. If the surface is not visible, the veneer does not have to be Spanish Cedar, but is recommended to achieve the same reactions to environmental changes.
Can you recommend a brand of glue for use in a humidor? Converting a cherry entertainment center into a large humidor. Thanks!
Jeffrey P on Sep 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have used Weldwood Gel Formula Contact Cement to glue the veneer to 1/4 inch oak plywood to use as liners for humidors I have buIlt. I have used the contact cement to successful 24" by 24" veneers to 24" by 24" road oak plywood pieces. It's not the easiest operation to accomplish but I have been happy with the results.
Is this veneer self adhesive or do I need to get glue?
Dario M on Dec 31, 2016
BEST ANSWER: You need glue! I used spray on contact cement from 3m! Worked great.
I am converting a clear pine wall cabinet with a glass door to a humidor. It is nestled in an alcove inside of an air conditioned closet. Is this veneer thick enough to maintain humidity in this application?
Thanks in advance. I’m kind of throwing myself to the wolves with this project..
KristaH on Apr 25, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes! That’s exactly what we used it for. We built an in-wall humidor for a customer in a wine cellar we also built. We used the veneer over wood also. Worked out great! Good Luck!

Does this Spanish cedar veneer originate from Central / South America or Africa?
Dave W on Mar 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I do not know where it originates from. I can tell you it was a nice product that worked well in the humidor I built! It was nearly identical to the Spanish cedar boards I used. Hope it helps.
My cabinet humidor is 33 1/2" height and 22" width. I'm needing to know how much Spanish cedar veneer would I need and the cost?
Joe T on Feb 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: In order to answer the question, I'd need to know the third dimension. Rockler sells 24"W x 48" L sheets of the veneer that could be used in the inside of the humidor. The number of sheets required can be easily calculated if the third dimension measurement is known.
I am having trouble installing Birdseye maple and burl maple. They are hard to get flat and easily crack....(the Birdseye has holes in it). Do I wet it down first......how do I clap it down? I am using the suggested brown glue. It is difficult to cut without cracking.
Normem on Apr 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: With veneer that is not flat, it is best to use Veneer Glycerine Item #: 58446.
This mixed with water and brushed onto the veneer will make it pliable enough to press flat between a couple of pieces of plywood and maybe some craft paper (to absorb extra solution) for a couple of days until dry. This will give you enough time to get it glued to the substrate. Don't wait too long to glue because the veneer will return to original wave.
What's the difference between Spanish cedar and American cedar when used as a humidor?
A shopper on Jun 20, 2015
BEST ANSWER: American cedar is going to be much more aromatic and has the ability to taint the cigars in a humidor. It is also less adept at absorbing moisture than Spanish. I personally build mine with Spanish Cedar, but you could certainly use American and save some pennies as I have seen many do.
