Triton TA1200BS 3'' Belt Sander

Everything you've come to expect in a standard 3'' x 21'' belt sander, plus the ability to turn it over and clamp it to the bench for use as a stationary sander!
Item #

Rating:
90% of 100

By moving the primary handle to the rear of the tool, Triton's engineers have created a belt sander that can be turned upside down for use as a stationary sander. The included clamps slip into a pair of openings in the housing, firmly holding the sander to the bench. This is an ideal feature for sanding small or delicate parts. The front bail handle can also be pivoted out of the way for this purpose, or pivoted vertically so you can get the nose up close to a wall when sanding wood floors, for example. One side of the sander is also flush with the belt for the ability to sand directly up against a wall. The powerful 10A motor with variable speed control promises rapid stock removal and the ability to tailor the tool to your task. Small diameter front roller improves sanding in confined areas and detail work. Side dust port connects to included dust bag or vacuum system. Includes inversion clamps, dust bag and sanding belt.

Features:
  • Powerful 1200W motor for rapid stock removal
  • Variable speed control improves versatility when working with different workpieces
  • Side dust port connects to the supplied dust bag or dust extraction system
  • Belt tracking adjustment for accurate alignment of the sanding belt

Triton Belt sander
This is a bigger sander than I have typically used but it really does the job - well made, easy to use. Really good tool - worth the money.

OUTSTANDING !!
I bought it to replace a a Black & Decker That didn’t have enough power to do anything much like I wanted.
This one has that and more. I like the feature that it can clamp to the workbench, as that’s the configuration I used with the Craftsman I had before it burnt up.

Great power and good ergonomics
This sander is great, practice a little on scrap to get a feel for the power and how quickly it removes the surface material. I've had mine over a year and it makes so many sanding projects go much faster.

Very good sander that does an excellent job with little effort. Excellent dust collection with comfortable grip. Easy belt change system.
Triton belt sander made cleaning up this random length multiple piece butcher block top a breeze.
Excellent on oak door panels too.

Triton 1200bs
This is one of my favorite sanders to use. I think Triton did a fantastic job designing and building this sander. I find it very comfortable to hold and control, variable speed works great, belt tracking is good, slightly heavier on the left side but that being said is I think it is the best one on the market today. I put a graphite platen on it which helped with the quality of finish. I had just bought a Makita 9903 before this one and the triton is the go to one for me for fine cabinetry or furniture. Just two things would be nice to see improved, one would be noise level and two would be dust collection, no good way to hook up a vacuum line without it being awkward. Makita still holds the trophy for those two things but for me quality of finish is more important

I have a Black and Decker I bought to replace the Craftsman that finally gave it up. It doesn't seem to have enough "rear end" to get the job done. This one does. I like the fact that its built to be clamped in a vise. I use to use Craftsman like that as it had a square section of body I could do that with.

A good belt sander with reviews other than sound rating. Since I intend to use hearing protection, I felt this was as good as the Makita 9903.

the option to be able to clamp it to your workbench is super appealing. very versatile tool

I chose this belt sander because it has the ability to be used as a bench model. Ryobi and Bosch quit making their models that did the same and repair parts are no longer available.

BEST ANSWER: yes, and this sander is great! especially love the clamps to attach it to a bench, mini drum sander!!!
Is there a sanding frame available for this sander?
Tom D on Jan 1, 2020
BEST ANSWER: There is a pair of clamps included. Rest the sander on it’s back. There are two through holes for the clamps that connect to the table. Worked well for me.
Can you connect a dust collection hose to the sander?
