Fine layout lines are crucial, as there is no side play like a biscuit jointer. Well made, firm feeling, fence knobs should be exchanged for levers
It worked perfectly
Limitless possibilities
Cabinet assembly, reason I bought it

At first, not easy to line up with pencil marked wood piece. I put in a thin black marker in the middle aliegnment line and now I enjoy this machine.

Woodworking Experience:
Triton Dual Dowel Joiner
There has been some good reviews and some not so good. But on sale at Rockler for $179.00 and free shipping I decided to it is not a domino but for at least $800 or more less.
First thing I did was change the spring because it was way to stiff with one less than half the strength which made it much easier to use.
I have only used it for a few things but so far seems alright . I'm hoping it will meet my needs I also bought 4 bag of dowels which is 200 dowels from Rockler . Will know more after a few products..Wood I buy it again as of now yes.

Woodworking Experience:
Great tool
I think this is a great tool the only draw back is it needs to come with standard size drill bits because the 5/16 dowels have a loose fit when drilled with the 8mm. bits that come with the unit. Or if you could buy dowels in metric sizes would be great.

Excellent value.
Solid effort for the money. Swapped out the stock bits for better quality CMT bits. Very happy with purchase!

Woodworking Experience:
I really like the doweling joiner but there is one thing I would change, I am a petite woman and it's pretty hard to push, I think the spring is too stiff or something, other than that I love it.

Woodworking Experience:
Great Tool - Small issue
While the tool works great and definitely speeds up my process time for joining things like table tops, legs, corner joinery, etc., The fact that is on the metric system is a little annoying. Trying to find 10mm or 12mm dowel pins is near impossible here in the States unless ordering in mass quantities. For a small hobbyist it is only a small frustration.

Woodworking Experience:
Not bad for what you pay but could be improved
It's not a bad unit for it's purpose but unless you have strong forearms to be able to plunge this to full depth, I wouldn't buy it. Takes a lot of strength to get it to plunge and you need a steady hand as well. Not bad on wider pieces you can clamp easily and use both hands on the tool but narrower pieces where a clamp just isn't good enough will test your strength.

Can a bigger bit be used ? What is the largest drill bit size that this will accommodate?
Houston on Jan 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: 8, 10 & 12mm bits are available.
I keep hearing that the spring/plunge action is stiff. Does this loosen up with time?
Kathleen S on Mar 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: THe problem with mine was some burrs from the machining process left on the tracks that slide along the guide, not the spring. Remove the unit from the base and give it a quick file/sanding and some wax.
Does this come with a full selection of bits (8mm, 10mm, and 12mm?) or is it just the 8mm set? For those that have bought CMT replacement bits, what is the spec of the bits? Shank size, length, etc? Were you able to find imperial sized bits? Hoping for a poor-man's Domino type solution, But the mixed reviews having me thinking I might be barking up the wrong tree.
Christopher L on Dec 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This comes only with the 8mm bits. I never bought replacement bits for it, machining on the tool was to poor to make it at all accurate or even useful. In the end I disposed of this tool and saved up for a domino. No comparison.
Can the drill bits be changed? Can standard bits be used? I'd like it to come with HSS very high quality interchangeable bits for 1/4" 5/16" 3/8' and 1/2" dowels all having the same 3/8" base shaft with 3-flats and dimples matching where Allen-screws lock the bits in place. Please Rockler give us a high quality precision tool at a price that sells like hot cakes. The kind of win-win Rockler's reputation was built on with exceptional quality at reasonable cost.

BEST ANSWER: Yes they can be removed. I don't know where you are going to find them. This machine IS NOT a Mafell, not even in the same ballpark. A Mafell you can change the diameter of the dowel as you describe. This diameter is metric I think, equivalent to 3/8". It's ok for what I got it for, pinning loose tenons on both side of the joint at once. I'd give the thing 3 out of 5 does the job, but not as well as a domino.
Is there a dowel jig or template guide available for this machine so that one can drill repetitive holes in sheet goods that fits with the jig teeth such as what they use with a Mafell? thank you
Marty K on Mar 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No there is not.
Looking for the 12mm Bits for this joiner. Where can i purchase them?

BEST ANSWER: Don't know
how close can the bits come together ? will the machine allow me to bore holes in a stock of wood 2" w 1''t eg a coffee table side rails ? is there a u tube videos ?
d&j custom cabinets on Dec 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The drill bits are fixed, you cannot move them. You can take one bit out and just use a single bit to space your holes closer or wider.
