I bought this due to price and it has a vacuum system. Sold my other planer, due to no vacuum system. The Triton works great with vacuum, Alot less mess than my other planner. I bought it January 12th 2019 at Rockler in Buffalo. I do small projects. The biggest is ADK Chairs. It works great easy to set up. After about a month of using every weekend, it started to have a grinding noise. Thinking something was going wrong, I called Rockler and because I didn't buy extended warranty and it was after 30 days I had to call manufacturer. My fault not Rocklers. I couldn't get ahold of manufacturer. So I started checking out why this noise was there. I read the reviews and checked into it further. I found that the gear box behind the chain drive was very low on grease. So I disassembled the chains and gear box and added a little more grease. Reassemble and tested. Noise gone. Found no other issues while checking into issue. Then after fixing issue, manufacturer called me back. I explained what I did. They said we should check and clean it every once in a while. Due to rpms it runs and depending on how much you use it. Heat wears out grease. Other than that it works perfectly. Had to turn blades after a month of use. For the cost works great. I use it all the time.

planer
My days of using a belt sander to clean up rough lumber is over. The triton planer is superb. The planer gives the lumber a smooth finish. Definately recommend it. Is easy to use and is very dependable.

Thickness planer
Working good. Made adjustments to the infeed table to reduce "snipe", still have to check out feed table. Quality of the cut surface is very good. I would recommend this product.

Solid Unit For The Price
Don't hesitate to buy this over the Dewalt planer if youre' starting an at home shop. The money saved could be put towards a benchtop bandsaw or benchtop planer. You will get some machining marks from the planer but, the kind that would be removed in 2 passes with 220 grit on an orbital sander.

I have only used it a couple times but very happy so far. I selected this over the Dewalt model because of the price point and it was on sale which further reduced the cost. The only feature I wish this model had is the stop gauge for material thickness

Not as well made as the dewalt but a little less money so I suppose itt equals out. Still works like it should. Best pert I would say is the onboard tool always at the ready.

Works great, kinda loud
Bought it as i was building a SYP workbench. Triton getting a good name and this one was on sale, so figured i'd try it. Planed the boards, glued up into 10" sections then ran through planer again to get top and bottoms flush. Planer worked great even under a heavy load, still using original knives and still planing smooth enough i don't have to smoother plane or sand much. Works smoothly, adjusts just as advertised. REALLY need to fasten down if you're running long heavy loads through it as it can tip forward or backward and mess up the run. Good dust collection with strong vac attached. Used both big shop vac and HF dust collector with Dust Deputy, both worked fine, but need to monitor bins as this thing produces LOTS of shavings. Only issue is with noise, but this is problem with all lunchbox planers in my experience. Would buy again, good value for the money for a weekend woodworker.

Great
I have no other experiences with planers, but it did what I needed and accuracy of thickness was very important. Some variability did exist, but it was very small, and this is woodworking which by definition you can't avoid variation in anything.

Good price on a planer from a good brand; seems to be a planer that will be good for a beginner woodworker but will also allow the woodworker to use it as those skills advance.

Are replacement blades readily available ? Easy to change?
David H on Aug 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Rockler apparently carries them - if you scroll down on the page for this planer on their site you can see them. (about $35)
Hello, I have read in the technical downloads that the planer is 220v. Is this correct? Many thanks.
Javier R on Oct 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The one I bought from Rockler is 110V and works fine for me on a standard US power supply.

I believe there are 240V ones for the UK market if you were to buy from a UK seller.
It is 220/240 but which outlet type does this use there are several it could be. Thanks ???????
Webb W W on Dec 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It comes prewired for 110v. If you rewire it for 220, it's whatever plug you want to use.
does it have metal gears?
Joel K on Nov 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the lead screw that moves the heads up and down are metal.
