Woodworking Experience:
A great set of lathe tools
The tools arrived sharp and ready to work. I particularly like the large and relatively heavy handles. The wood handles are very comfortable. I strongly recommend this tool set for beginners and experienced wood workers.

Woodworking Experience:
Reasonable priced spindle turning set.
These probably don't compare to Sorby tools, but for someone just starting out turning, this is a pretty decent set of tools. They sharpen well, and will hold the edge throughout a project. They are the perfect length for turning smaller items.

Turning Tool Set by Great Neck.
This tool set was very useful for most of my turning projects. The only tool missing from this set was a Bowl Gouge. I will need to purchase this tool by itself. All the other tools were well built with good balance and wood stocks.I did purchase the Wolverine tool sharpener kit to keep all the tools handy with sharp cutting edges. The length of the tools are perfect for that balance when cutting.Good job on the design.

Good product
Good product. Being new to wood turning, it would have been nice if there had been a description of what each chisel was used for and how to use it properly. Videos are fine but a reference at hand is appreciated.

Good starter set
Not bad. The set I received needed a little more sharpening than I thought should be necessary, as the edges were nicked. A good first set of tools for the beginner learning to work with and sharpen (not the same as sharpening chisels or plane irons).

I bought a new Lathe and did not want to spend a lot of money on the turning tools as I plan to add better tools over time. I also felt that some tools are used for roughing and used infrequently and I could get by with a lower quality tool.

What's the best tool for turning a pen ?
Dennis D on May 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: If you haven't done much turning then I suggest Rockler's carbide turning set (47600) I would suggest these for a few reasons, one is the you don't need is sharpening system The other is the learning curve is very low.
