A great set of lathe tools
The tools arrived sharp and ready to work. I particularly like the large and relatively heavy handles. The wood handles are very comfortable. I strongly recommend this tool set for beginners and experienced wood workers.

Woodworking Experience:
Reasonable priced spindle turning set.
These probably don't compare to Sorby tools, but for someone just starting out turning, this is a pretty decent set of tools. They sharpen well, and will hold the edge throughout a project. They are the perfect length for turning smaller items.

Turning Tool Set by Great Neck.
This tool set was very useful for most of my turning projects. The only tool missing from this set was a Bowl Gouge. I will need to purchase this tool by itself. All the other tools were well built with good balance and wood stocks.I did purchase the Wolverine tool sharpener kit to keep all the tools handy with sharp cutting edges. The length of the tools are perfect for that balance when cutting.Good job on the design.

A good set to learn with that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. The tools do need to be sharpened often.

Good tools for the price
After a little sharpening these tools work great. I am very pleased with this set. Not the top quality of turning tools but the price cannot be beat.

Woodworking Experience:
High Carbon tool steel
Not good on hard wood, needed to sharpen often. Better to by HHS tools or better yet the carbide which is great but a little pricey. I really like the carbide

Dennis D on May 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: If you haven't done much turning then I suggest Rockler's carbide turning set (47600) I would suggest these for a few reasons, one is the you don't need is sharpening system The other is the learning curve is very low.
