Installation instructions are poor. There should be options for various installations methods. I created a frame that was inserted into the cabinet for the hinges to be attached to otherwise the screws would have penetrated the cabinet skin or provided limited support.

Woodworking Experience:
Not perfect, but they work for me
This is the only hardware I have found that lets me store my mixer and food processor underneath the library table that I use as a movable kitchen island. Yes, you have to tip the appliances to bring them up. No, they are not smoothly automatic lifters. No they are not pretty. But they do the job. I have had to replace the right side hardware two times over the past 20 years, I think because I pull too hard on the cord that releases the catches--probably on the right side of the shelf, since I'm right handed. I just replaced one today, and it is not difficult for me, given the openness of the table. (I'm a 70-year-old woman with no carpentry skills.) Would probably me harder in a cabinet. I'm just grateful these lifts are still available from Rockler--the only source I've found.

Woodworking Experience:
Under drawer review
I compared this mechanism to a similar one that also had safety shock absorbers and was a soft close.

I did not use this model for convenience reasons and I think the install would have been much more difficult. This attaches under a metal drawer slide. requires a modification if your don't have sturdy metal slides.

I used an under counter (no drawer) and simply modified the mixer platform higher

Woodworking Experience:
After placing our order with Rockler we took careful measurements of our cabinet (under-drawer) device ... and although we had a professional carpenter come in to install this device ... which was the smallest of the sizes available, and our cabinet had been carefully compared with your measurements and the carpenter's, the device failed to fit the smaller opening, no matter how carefully the pro tried, we had to return it to you.! We salute all the other products we have ordered and accepted from Rockler, but this one let us down. Even your smallest of 2 choices wouldn't fit . SORRY! EML

Woodworking Experience:
Description does not state which models do not fit
We purchased this lift through Amazon but it was shipped from Rockler, but I have a stand mixer that the head does not lean back. Which makes it difficult to operate. You should state which models it is best suited for. (Model KSM5PSWW is what we have)

If this statement were included would have been helpful.

Woodworking Experience:
mixer size warning
I bought this unit because we needed a lift to go under a drawer. what i discovered is if you have a full size kitchen-aid mixer, it is too tall to clear the cabinet when trying to raise or lower. I discovered this after having to do a lot of modifications to the cabinet to install. I'm going to attempt to build a rather complicated drop shelf. All in all not worth all the work and too expensive. I would suggest keep looking for something better.

This appears to be the closest appliance mechanism I could find at Rockler. I do not shop anywhere else.

When the "lift" is folded down what is the clearance to the bottom of shelf. Or what is the maximum height of an appliance??
steve m on Jul 10, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The maximum clearance is 15-7/8
This has a load rating of 20 lbs. My Kitchen Aid mixer is 22 lbs empty. Does that mean it won't work? Too risky? I guess I wonder if "rated for" and "can actually" handle are two different things.
Laura B on Nov 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The unit is very sturdy and I am sure it will handle 40 lbs. However, there are no springs to help with the lift process. My estimate is that at the midpoint of the lift cycle, with a 22 pound mixer, you will have to exert an upward force of 35 or 40 lbs. So, be aware of that. Also, the installation is a bear. I recommend putting a slab into the sides of your cabinet and experimenting with various mounting locations before doing a 'final' installation. Good luck.
Is the 22-3/4" height minimum required for the opening of the cabinet, or the interior? I have 23" inside the cabinet, but only 21" for the height of the opening.
Laura B on Nov 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: You need the full 22 3/4 outside otherwise the lift arms will not fully open and the platform the mixer is will not be level .... I had the same problem and had to return the lift
I have built the cabinet to fit my 14” oscillating spindle sander weighing about 20 lbs. Cabinet cavity depth 21.5” width 15.5" height 26.5" , F/F opening is 14.5”x25”.
In your opinion would your “Under Drawer Swing Up Appliance Mechanism Item #: 29405” work to support my sander? And would it clear the opening of the F/F?
Michael B on May 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I believe it will. Make sure the height of the spindle sander meets the specifications in the documentation. My use required me to design a shim the proper thickness to clear the face frame. Ours works great!
what is the clearance for the hinge itself? I am working with a narrow width.
A shopper on May 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: We were unable to use this product as we had metal drawer glides, and this product does not attach to the sides of the cabinet
29405 is top-mount. Rev-A-Shelf is side mount. Shouldn’t this be in the specs?
