Useful kit for kid's project
This made a nice gift for my grandson. Combined it with a piece of mahagany that I applied a finish on and he had a great time laying our the holes and learning how to play. He's now looking at making more boards to sell.

Real easy to use
The best thing I found was to not try to drill through template. Doing that will only allow you to make a few boards before it will be worn. I put dots and later drilled out with drill press.
I made a few more for others. Made to be hung vertical on wall with keyhole so becomes display as well.
Making some for Xmas gift. I use Oak.
Proud of my work and shows the key hole slot, as I designed mine to be hung on wall.
My board, larger in order to show my Navy Squadron decal

XL Cribbage
I made my first cribbage board with a piece of 3/4" walnut using this template and drill setup in about 30 minutes. Extremely straightforward and looks great. Make sure you get the first template perfectly square with the board so the holes don't start to drift left or right as you move along.

I do wish it was all one full size template, but there are not really any other options that were appealing. Seems like it would be fairly easy for the manufacturer to just make it one piece. Would also be nice if it came in a three player option.

A friend asked me to make a large cribbage board for his father, who loves cribbage, but has trouble seeing holes on the standard size board. With 1/4" holes, this looks like it will be the perfect size for him. Also, using the template, I can design cribbage boards in custom shapes and patterns.

John R on Nov 27, 2016
usually can eye things up well, but this is more like a XXXL than a XL. the template is of great quality, so I will be returning the XL and ordering the standard template.

I picked the extra large cribbage board template because my Husband has a hard time seeing the original game board. He loves to play this game but cant see the pegs.. So I figured he can have fun building the game board then have even more fun playing the game because he will be able to see the pegs. Thank you for this item, my husband is going to just love it!!

Matt K on Nov 25, 2015
Do you make a 3 track template?
Warren D on Oct 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No. Rockler only has templates for 2 tracks
How do you line up the holes in between the curved ends to have a straight cribbage board track? I don't really see from any of your posts how it would be so easy to do as you say. Why wouldn't you just have one more piece that would have 10 15 or 20 holes per length?
Jeff R on Jan 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: From your question I gather that you have not purchased the kit yet. The instructions are on the back of the box as well as on the templates. Once you have positioned the first template and drilled it out, the indexing pins will position the second template (template B) in the correct location. There is a section on template B that you will repeat 5 times (it is marked on the template) by moving the template B and securing in position using the indexing pins and the holes on the template marked for indexing pins. It really is very easy once you see the templates and read the instruction.
Am considering to purchase. How many clear template pieces are included.? The pictures show the two end sections, but what about a templates for the middle 5 sections of holes? THX
tkuff on Nov 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: There are 2 pieces. The one on the right will be lined up on your wood and used to make the middle sections. I've already made 3 and they are perfect!
You give minimum size for length and width. What about thickness?
Jim T on Mar 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Jim I haven't made this one yet but I was looking at half inch or even three quarters because I would store my pegs in it
Can you use the template to make a round cribbage board so that the holes go just inside the perimeter of the top surface?
John R on Dec 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: John- I wanted to make a round cribbage board, too, but I don't think this template will work for that. I looked for a round template but could only find paper patterns. FYI, everyone who has played on my large cribbage board loves it. Especially my 91 year old mother who was having difficulty seeing the holes on a standard board. Dave K.
