Pen Turning

Date: January 8, 2015

Time: 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Overview: This class will start with kit and tool selection and progress through turning, finishing and assembly.  Learn the tricks of the trade from drilling to final assembly.  You’ll learn to use wood turning tools to shape the pen and get clean accurate cuts.

Skill Level: Beginner

Class Fee: $35 + Materials

 

Beginning Router Table

Date: January 15, 2015

Time: 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Overview: This workhorse is often one of the first and most important tool purchases that a woodworker ever makes.  It is also easy to master several procedures in the first few weeks of owning one. 

Skill Level: Beginner

Class Fee: $35 + Materials

 

Spindle Turning

Date: January 22, 2015

Time: 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Overview: Just turning on a lathe can be a daunting undertaking.  Take that anxiety away in this fun, hands on class.  Learn wood selection, mounting the wood, tool selection and finally having a great time making spindles.  Spindles quickly turn into pizza cutters, ice cream scoops, candle holders and much more.

Skill Level: Beginner

Planning your Project:  A Guide to Drawer Slides, Pulls and Hinges

Date: January 29, 2015

Time: 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Overview: Before starting any project, you should figure out what kind of hardware to use. By learning about the hardware available, you'll save yourself tons of time and a huge headache.

Skill Level: Beginner

Class Fee: $35

 

Beginning Bowl Turning

Date:
February 5, 2015

Time: 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Overview: Bowl turning is a great way to improve your turning skills.  This class will cover face plate turning tool techniques, mounting wood in a chuck and sanding and finishing.

Skill Level: Beginner (Pre-requisite: Spindle Turning)

Class Fee: $35 + Materials

 

Alternative Stains

Date:
February 12, 2015

Time: 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Overview: What happens when you mix steel wool, vinegar and tea?  A beautiful, rich stain that turns cherry and oak wood gorgeous.  Come learn this and other alternative stain solutions to try out on your next project.

Skill Level: Beginner

Square Bowl Turning

Date: February 19, 2015

Time: 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Overview: Take your bowl turning to a new level and learn to turn a square bowl. 

Skill Level: Advanced (Must talk to Michael before signing up)

Dovetail Jig

Date: February 26, 2015

Time: 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Overview: Rockler makes a great entry level dovetail jig.  Come take the mystery out of this in this two hour class.  If you have one of these jigs, bring it to class and set it up for your own use.

Skill Level: Beginner
