I purchased this to make a oak face grain plug to fill a hole a previous owner put in a hardwood floor to run a cable for his tv. It will make plugs all day long. Nice to have the ability to custom match the existing wood grain to make a patch disappear.
I used this cutter to make oak plugs for a repair job. The plugs have a dimple in the center. To make this "go away" I put the piece across my jointer before I cut them loose on my table saw. Putting a double layer of blue tape across the stock kept me from chasing the plugs around the shop, if I could find them. Would be nice if I could remove the center pin.
I was disappointed in the rough finish it gave. I ran it on the slow speed on my drill press. I tried it out on pine, oak and cherry. This would be ok for a few plugs. I will keep it and use it for a back up. The 4 cutter is a much better tool
